Relax and enjoy the time here. People discussing something over a few posts in a thread that is basically the defacto conversation thread, isn't going to kill anyone. As mentioned, if it personally bothers you, unsubscribe.

How about responding in the non-premium member for sale threads about it being inappropriate? THAT would be productive and actually help keep the lights on around here. Prop, myself, and a few others are the only ones who bother to reply and report it.

What did you do to / for your E53 today??

@ bc is most definitely not an idiot you are showing your true colors by saying that. 400 vs 6800 posts. Rookie mistake?

@bc was not wrong to suggest use threads pertinent to the discussion at hand. Ad hominem attacks are a clear sign of lack of knowledge or understanding.

I can't roll my eyes at this anymore.
But sure. He has more posts than me. So he's obviously very smart.
Perhaps he should be a forum police, so he can clean up all the threads that go off topic.

At the end of he day, this thread goes on and off topic all day long and it's one of the reasons it's so active. But every few weeks he decides to cry about it not being on topic. Like dude, get over it. Who cares. The thread will come back on topic like it always does and will keep going.
No one else seems to be concerned with it, but oh no, here comes BC to remind us what the thread title is, in as many words as possible.

so.... (peeks head up over parapet)... 'on topic' :stickpoke

It's an early finish today from work (gotta be an occasional perk to working for yourself) so organized a few more things and threw some more hard earned at the money pit....

Finally confirmed today the shocks and springs for the 4.8is suspension swap out are on the way... the guys at Eibach springs are very helpful. They ordered in the tech specs for the kit I've ordered so I could see the finished body height and understand the spring rates before I paid for it.

Should be able to get it up off its nose soon...

All the little bits I've ordered separately and are being picked up in Dallas today by my better half while she is there...

The 3M kit for the headlights arrived here today, along with a new seat belt buckle from a wrecker to replace the hall sensor in the existing one...

Booked a mobile dent puller today to come and out and remove 3 dents put in it by the previous owner... another $350...

I got the steering column bearing replacement figured out last weekend with help from wpoll and scott zhp... the existing bearing was toast.. but like always you DO need that special tool which you can only buy in another country...

A couple more days and my family is home along with lots of goodies arriving for the 4.8... I'm excited but my wallet has taken a pounding....

Filled the big tank with 93 today and then drove over 200 miles including an airport run. Seattle has moved to the northeast. Its raining every day and enjoying the new OEM windshield wipers I just installed. The sun peaked out and blinked for 20 minutes. Hope tomorrow is nice for the Stony Brook (LI NY) Community Church 15th annual Vintage European Sports Car and Motorcycle display featuring music by the Barking Men. What fun!

lol this thread was fine, idk why some people are acting like this is the bible and preaching how exact our information has to be in here, it's a forum for a reason so members can view and research out their problems

I love this thread too it's actually my favorite one

on that note, I replaced my engine valve cover trim cap and a gas tank cover

amancuso 06-21-2019 11:51 AM

Ain’t nobody got time for that.

I'm completely relaxed and I always enjoy my time here. My input is just a suggestion. It is becoming the catch all thread, mostly because of new members. As a long term member that has frequented the forum almost every day I have seen this thread deteriorate, especially over the last two years. I have always been a premier member, I have a vested interest in the betterment of the forum. I am also concerned about the future of the forum, that's the reason for the input.

I usually send a private message about posting ads since most are new members and I don't think it should be 'public'. When you Let folks know about selling things it is trying to help make the forum better. Good for you! I respect that. My intent is the same and I expect like respect.

It is very easy to unsubscribe. It is also just as easy to use the thread as intended. How does anyone think trying to solve problems and troubleshooting is not off to far off topic in this thread? Why is it any different than hy jacking a thread, using bad language, verbally attacking a member etc.? Sure, some conversation like complimenting what someone has done, where they purchased the parts, asking for the results is great.

The way to improve the forum is to follow all the rules not selectively.
