Xoutpost.com - What did you do to / for your E53 today??

Replaced MKIV DVD reader. Not too bad a job. I was a bit upset since it used a T8 bolt, which i unfortunately didn't have! 5 min job became 1 hr due to driving to el home depot.
Thankfully the DVD drive wasn't too expensive, gotta love dealer hook-ups!

V32 SW, OEM 2015 Maps, and a new drive! Now it's a near-bullet proof unit.

Up next is fixing the classic cupholder "holders"

I tried 1 spring and when the lid was closed it sat crooked because of the pressure of only having 1 spring ,so you will need to use both of them.Also I don`t find it pops up that badly myself.

Mine pops open but the hatch only travels up enough for the struts to take it the rest of the way up. Very easy to close. The springs are not that stiff and the hatch is within about 6 inches or so from closing before there is any resistance.

50/50 mix of acetone and ATF (automatic transmission fluid) wins every face-off I've seen to unstick frozen bolts. I used not long ago to remove the anode from an electric water heater.

^^This. Although highly flammable its about 3x better than Blaster or penetrating oil

I thought about extracting the screw, but since I was dealing with sticky caliper initially, I will just replace the caliper with reman unit.
Just don't want to spend more on this stupid screw.

Transmission

Dropped it off at the transmission shop. Local very reputable and I've used him before. Hoping it's low on fluid or bad filter but we all know it's going to be worst case scenario. Lol!

You could cut some of each spring off but the trick is how much to cut. I have to get these. I never understood why there is a trunk button that doesn't open the trunk. I just figured my '01 has weak gas struts
