Went out in the front yard and shot this thru a welding mask.
Didn't get a full eclipse in Alabama but was pretty close. |
gearbox
Yesterday, I replaced the mechatronic seal, filter, gasket and partial oil.
I've done the filter, gasket and oil before, so not much in that. This is the first time I've done the mechatronic seal though. Last oil change it was fine, but recently developed a leak when left for a week. I knew it was a good preventative thing to change, but believed it was quite tricky to do, so didn't do it last oil change. Now that it is done, I was surprised how easy it was to change! If you open the gearbox, I would definitely recommend changing the seal, even it it's not leaking yet. It's just too easy to do, since you're in there anyway. |

Bought a 20 ton hydraulic press from harbor freight to do the front wheel bearing on my x5.
Just finished assembling the press. Its not but 4 feet from the X5 but so far that wheel bearing hasn't moved 1 inch towards getting its sorry self on that press to be changed. I'll keep everyone updated though. Worse case scenario I will remove it manually tomorrow and walk it over to the press. |
