Whistling? like when it changes gear under moderate throttle?

TriX5 :dunno:

drop off the TC yesterday for reman. and they told me it'll be ready by Thursday, as far as cleaning-any procedure/steps that i need to know like the housing, did you take the bolts etc. out, flushing the pipes?

E55AMG2 - it sounds like a "turbo" whinning when you accelerate..

TriX5 06-07-2011 09:43 AM

yes & yes.

BTW, you will need all the friction disks. The 4.4i box only uses 9 in the D/E, hence the spare I had.

Mine makes that noise intermittently when there is a lot of load (high speed cruising with a headwind for example), but it's very faint. You can't hear it with the radio on. Both transmissions I've had chirp on the 1-2 and 2-3 shift.....although that might be air leaking in the intake somewhere when the throttle cuts during shifts.

E55AMG2 -"chirp"??

at first i get the "trans fail safe prog" on and off then jerking on slowing down and slipping.

TriX5 - did you replace your axial bearings?

TriX5 06-08-2011 07:28 AM

I replaced the A/B one. As per CivDiv's thread.

Yep. It sounds like a BOV between quick shifts.

TriX5 06-08-2011 10:33 PM

Ahaaa, sehr gute getriebeoel!! :-)

Where did you find that and how much? Looks like the real deal.

RDM08 06-08-2011 11:39 PM

i order everything from "transtar" and that's the fluid they recommend, normally $25 but my deal is $17 per bottle. so this is good right?

btw, where did you get the axial bearings?
