I guess you’ll have realised this as soon as you tried to put the sump pan on but this cable guide needs to be turned through 180 degrees. A tab on it slots into the recess in the casting (they think of everything these Germans!)

Congratulations RDM08. This DIY is way out of my league but I found it interesting and informative anyway. How many hours did you put into the rebuild in total?

RDM08 06-24-2011 01:17 PM

thanks rayxi, it was my first time rebuilding a tranny, i took my time(about 3 weeks or so) as i was learning thru the process and between work and family;)

you can do it too - i'm just a "DIY'er" kinda guy:D

hope it will last tho lol

Double congratulations then for managing that with work and family commitments as well. I know it's a struggle to find the time, I have to do repairs and maintenance at midnight at times.

I'm very much a DIY kind of guy too but being a bit claustaphobic I avoid any work that requires me to be under a vehicle for more than 5 minutes at a time. The actual rebuild I think I can handle given the proper technical documentation and tools. Now if I had a proper lift that would be the ticket. :)

JOB WELL DONE!

RDM08 06-26-2011 01:28 PM

thanks rayxi! definitely need the manual for the tranny(it helps a LOT!) and for the lift- i got the motorcycle/atv/car jack combo from pep boys for $120 and ratchet strap..my motivation to DIY this is to save money :)

swissfrank - it's your fault man!! :) j/k..you started the tranny DIY, i just followed your thread and civdiv99, TriX5 and RRPhil, thanks guys!!
