Been driving it hard for the past 2 weeks. No errors so far....
Good to hear things worked out....haven't had any problems as of yet. And I've also been driving it hard. Just got the Velos tune today and will be working on that this weekend.

Update:
Service dept said 'service engine soon' message was displayed & vehicle lost power.
Tested for cyl 1 misfire/coolant pump/voltage & ground...
No parts replaced. has been ok so far.
Let us know how you like the Velos tune.

Good to hear its running normal again. I had cyl 1,3,5,7 injectors, spark plgs, and HPFP for that side replaced. Havent had any issues since.

I also got the Velos tune. I've driven about 200 miles on it so far and it feels like it keeps getting better and faster. I noticed the most in non-M mode. More low end torque. Its hard to really notice a big difference going from 555hp to 630hp. But it is definitely faster. Oh...and no more limiter at 155mph. Found that out last night

again

got 'engine malfunction/reduced power' message for 2nd time in six wks. flat bed to another dealer. Both are Penske but 2nd is "award winning".
Maybe they will replace a few parts instead of taking 6 days to basically run diagnostics.
Created file to send to Velos. Planned on getting 'before' dyno. Will try again before installing file w/ tune.

I had the engine message three times. The first two times the dealer said it was a software issue. The last time I had heavy smoke coming out of the tail pipes the dealer had to replace the fuel injectors. I'm serious considering trading my truck in for a more reliable vehicle.

SA at dealer said issue is gas that is 90% not gas. Wife bought Shell at convenience store in AM & got malfunction message w/ reduced power same day.
I will probably transfer to indy shop who will hopefully charge half of dealer's price.
Has anyone been reimbursed by gas wholeseller or retailer for repairs of this type?
What is required in parts & labor to repair this?

My problems also came after filling up at a Shell gas station that same night. It was the first time I filled up there. I always use mobile/Exxon. I don't think you can get anything from the station/gas dealer. It's hard to prove their gas caused the malfunction.

I had two X5 5.0s (2011 and 2012) with same problem. First was bought back by BMWNA as a lemon. Turned in last one at end of lease - no way I was going to buy it with numerous engine issues. Dealership was never able to figure out the problem. First time in nearly a decade that no one in my household has owned a BMW.

Transfered vehicle to indy shop because repair quote was almost $1K less. Drained tank. Replaced fuel pump w/fuel filter unit, level sender, & spark plugs. Added chemical to remove water from fuel system. Added fresh gas & ran for several hours. Injectors survived, but we know they fail anyway. Seller owns that one store only so no $$ there.
Now store is for sale ,btw. Discussed w/ Shell. Not responsible once fuel leaves refinery. Got inspection reports fron State fuel lab for local wholesaler & seller. Seller inspected once a year . Wholesaler once a month. Wholesaler uses 3rd party to deliver fuel to seller. No way to trace source of contamination & no one takes responsibilty of course.
Lesson learned: use station that has high turnover & in a neighborhood that sells some quanity of Premium fuel. Don't use the closest station when a better station is an option & may take an extra five minutes to drive to.
