Been thinking about the ccv system, i have bought all new hoses and the oil separator. I havent bought the backpiece on the intake yet, wondered if anyone know if the membran is sold seperatly, or do i have to buy the whole piece? Reffering to number 2 in pic 😄

Its like the valley pan, the cheapest part on it fails, and forces you to buy a whole piece. I think i saw somewhere that the membrane was sold separetly. But yes, i will change it 😄 Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk |

I have a tip for those who have a small front exhaust leak, to check the nuts that fasten the catalytic converters to the manifolds. There are nuts with washer in one piece, new ones looks like they are coated with cupper. On my truck the washer piece had almost rusted away on all 4 nuts and allowed the 2 pipes to not seat properly.

Whoa, look at the clearance between the tensioner and the guide. When i took it apart, the tensioner was almost 3 times extended than now 👍😄

Seems to indicate that if you are over 100,000 miles and for whatever reason do not currently plan to do the timing chain job, replacing the tensioner with the revised longer version is a worthwhile consideration. May have to shade tree a tool to reach and remove the tensioner but easy to do.

I got a little carried away earlier. I have allready changed primary chain + guides, upper chains + the slidepieces on the upper tensioners. The tensioner for the primary chain is new too. What i meant was that the old chain had more slack in it, allowing the tensioner to extend more to pick up the slack 😄 Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk |

My suggestion was only if a member has an engine with the old shorter tensioner it is well worth the time and money to replace it with the longer version so the chains don't start eating up the guides as soon.

Ok. I didnt know there was 2 types of tensioners, the one i removed was the same lenght as the new one, exept for the internal spring that had got a bit compressed. I have mostly posted engine pictures, but today i feel generous so heres a pic of the car on stands 👍😄 ![]() ![]() Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk |

Why would BMW offer two types of tensioners and only one part number?
