Here's what Crystalworks did for his BSW. I think you could do something kinda cool looking with twin 6" grills on your OE sub. It's just cardboard and insulation, so cutting it is easy.

Use the grill to mark, a knife to etch through carpet, and the device of your choosing to get through the tougher stuff. A knife might even work. Like I mentioned, all of this work got me thinking of a mod for the OE sub. Since I just changed the RAM in my PC up to 32GB (cause why not), I may go out there and see what progress I can make. Gotta strike while the thoughts are still clear.

Thanks Prop!

That's just the insight I needed. :thumb up:

Awesome Prop - Joseph or Jay who have done DSP installs, since there are midranges on the rear doors would the Memphis Audio ones Prop did also function in that area?

I know Prop put tweeters in the rear doors and no worries with that at all, just didn't know if there was an actual midrange solution for them

They'd need trimming of the mount at the very least. I believe they'd fit if trimmed though unsure. If anyone wants an inexpensive test, I found these that look awfully similar to the Memphis Audio ones:

2.75" Speakers, Amazon

No midrange solution for the rear doors that I am aware of but then again I have not researched this driver extensively to determine what would be suitable. I would have to measure the driver first and then take it from there.

Edit: Looks like a 2.75 inch midrange driver so the one that prop suggested should be good for the application.

I wasn't sure ab the size- good to know. But that mount- even the little 1/8" edge- would have to be trimmed for the rear mid mount. I kinda want to do it. Cause.. you know.. it was a fun couple of days.

Yes the tabs would have to be trimmed to fit but looks like it will make a nice upgrade in sound.

Soooooo - I think we are on to something here boys - 2 sets of midbasses from JL, 2 sets of Midranges from Memphis, and a set of Tweeters from JL makes for the "poor man's BSW" of 2017

I'm just trying to get my Midbasses from JL right - Prop used a 6.5" JL Audio, Jay you used a 6" one?

OK, stereo people... This just happened today- looking for advice:

On start this AM it was cold- REALLY cold. I mention this 'cause it's the only thing I know is different from the last few days that I've had the sub. I have ZERO idea if it means anything.

I was greated with a rattling, thumping mess of bass coming from the new sub. It sounded like @ss. I knew *I* hadn't been screwing with it the night before. I had time to move the bass settings in the Tone menu. I messed with DSP 80 and 200hz (lowered). Eventually (like a few mins)- through no obvious input of my own, it settled into the lightly added depth I have been enjoying.

I parked, ate and returned. Same thing. I screwed with no settings, deciding to see what might happen if I just waited. Sure enough, a couple seconds later, it settled into my new normal.

It sort of 'feels' like the either the DSP amp or the new amp sent with the sub are sort of 'waking up' a bit slower than the stereo itself. I do notice that changing either tone settings or DSP settings take a second to 'catch up.'

Any thoughts?

RB I take it you can use either one since prop verified with a little trimming that he could get the JL 6.5s to work. The ones I installed are direct fit JL 6 inch speakers that require no outer ring modifications.
