I've noticed the quality of the amp in question with mine as well... messing with the gain/Xover settings can cause some ugly results (sort of what you describe). Fortunately I got mine to a well tuned setting and it stays there without doing what yours is doing.

Mike double check if you got a pair for $68. The 600CW drivers are normally sold as individual and one step up from the ones that Prop installed in his X5. Just double check for your understanding and expectations.

Sadly for me you are correct ( ![]() I guess I will have to wait until next month to get another pair. As an experienced eBay user, I'm usually very careful to confirm the offering, but I guess this time I slipped up ![]() Thanks for setting my expectations straight before I opened the package. ![]() Mike

Hey Prop,
My dash mids arrive today and do you remember which wire going to them is the positive and which is the negative? There is a green and a green w/black stripe going to the factory mid. Also, did you use the seeming existing crossover bundle just prior to the factory wires soldered to the speaker? OK disregard, I see what you did in this pic ![]() PS: I used the exact same screwdriver bit mod to access the screws and it worked like a charm, except I used black electrical tape. ![]() Thanks, Mike

Well, I think I will do the front doors first so I can get the maximum effect in MY space until I spring for another pair for the rear doors, maybe next month.
With the dash mids upgraded and the front doors upgraded, I should be able to stand it until next month when I spring for another pair of C2-600CW ![]() I also replaced the sub amp which was going into protection mode for no apparent reason and giving very trashy sub performance. The factory DSP sub that I retrofitted onto the separate amp is now giving the best its pee wee woofers can offer and that's an OK sound for me. ![]() OK all done with the dash mid install using Memphis Audio recommendation and it is awesome. Much clearer mid range, as if a pillow had been removed from the old ones. ![]() For the $35 they cost me, a great sound mod. Thanks to the OP for highlighting this. Mike

^^Glad to hear that the Dash midranges worked out well - The temps aren't great right now but its extremely tempting to get those swapped out ASAP

You guys suck - I ordered the Memphis Audio midranges for the dash first as they are easiest to swap out - I'll add the rest of the JL Audio components and another set of Memphis for the rear doors in the spring - Prop when you get a sec can you get me a pic of the factory rear door midrange speaker that you removed and swapped with the JL tweeter?

I did mine in the comfort of my 45*F garage in Texas ![]() Drove 1150 miles in the last two days and the new mids were a genuine pleasure to finally hear crisp and clear sound. Mike

^^Looking forward to getting them installed on mine now as well! I have propane heat in the garage so shouldn't be too bad -
