What do you guys think about this Android HU?

If you give me your preferences.. I would gladly guide you through AliExpress for your e53 headunits... I suggest px5 processor.. with at least 4 gigs ram and FHD screen of course.. and like I said before.. audio is hit and miss ..

Interesting. I did notice that CW's new 8.xx android had the same theme/wallpapers as my old phone that ran KitKat. Hard to complain about 3-400 dollar head units. As long as it gets the job done I suppose.

My PX5 board with octacore and 4GB ram performs excellently. Barely 30% of RAM usage when I run iGo, Pandora, and iBus. If I add one of the Wx radar mapping apps or Wx channel or Spectrum TV I still get snappy performance in all the apps.

When it was a PX3 board with 1GB RAM, I experienced pathetic app response, even when lightly loaded.

Good call on the OEM look and butonology.

Mike

Exactly my point.. thank you)
Some seller on AliExpress lie about the actual components and put an overlay.. so please read the specs carefully.. .. and whoever has these units.. I will later advice you to download an app from the play store that will tell you exactly what u have .. processor and ram and space
Called Aida64

I wouldn't imagine someone installing a $6k high-end audio unit that looks out of place in an $8k vehicle. Just my thoughts.
I upgraded my speakers and added a sub with amp from BSW many years ago. There was a dramatic improvement from DSP stock system. There was also a dramatic improvement when I installed the Seicane using the BSW speakers. I will never need anything better than I have now.

Well my unit arrived today, just making sure it fits before I do anything else:

Next to the OEM unit:

Will do, first thing was put a anti-glare screen protector on it. Had it laying around as they came in a pack.

Will be ordering some additional parts so I can use the OEM microphone and GPS antenna.

Also looks like I need farka extension for the FM antenna from the front of the car to all the way to the back where my antenna connector is.

Mr r, if you get a correct orientation (male/female) adapter you can use the antenna connection on the driver's side of the center console. This is where the Avin avant got its antenna connection. I believe that is the OE antenna connection for the original phone cradle option. But it worked really well on the Avin. Just an fyi. Saves running the antenna all the way to the back.
