High pitched whistle when you accelerate? I found where mine was coming from.
Well that whistle was starting to drive me crazy and I set out to find it. Only took about 2 minutes. The air boot was cracked, and cracked badly. I have no idea how it could not have throw a code or made the car run rough. Anyway grabbed a new boot and slapped it in and the noise is gone. I have read a lot of others have heard this noise so I am sharing my finding.
The boot cracks on the bottom of the little tube, and is not easy to see. Its also not easy to get to the hose clamps. I had to get them with a really long extension from under the car. I hope that was not posted already, I did not see anything about it. |

Thank you for this info. I just discovered mine this past week and it is annoying. I am going to schedule the dealer to fix it since its still under warranty.

3.0 and it's the air boot directly under the intake. It goes like this MAF then a plastic pipe then a plastic junction then the Air Boot (rubber). Finally into the intake manifold. The Air Boot has a small rubber tube running off the side of it to the secondary air system, that’s where I had the crack, and it was so low I did not see it right away.

I have a 4.4i with a slight whistling sound (no driveability issues). I'm looking for comparable parts to see if I'm having the same problem. |

![]() Number 9, that little thing shooting off it had the cracks on almost all the folds. 65K on motor and no other sign of a problem other than that @#&*^%$# noise. |

Follow your intake, the air boot will be the last connection before the throttle body.

Thank you so much - this noise has been irritating me for awhile now, and I do not drive it everyday.
