No KIDDING! I was offered at $2195 when I purchased my e70 4.8 by the finance guy. after he gave me some prices on brake jobs and other stuff and said, "look, you still come out $500 ahead!"
I starting quoting how much I can get genuine parts online and take it to my trusty indy mechanic who only works on BMW's plus it's easy to do brakes, bleed brakes -- I do a better job then those guys. so he asked me to counter offer, I told him $1200. He then made a final offer at 1895. That's still a $400 mark up. Those bastards. I told him no, and for the rest of the paper signing (I paid out right, didn't finanace either) he exhibited a really poor attitude unlike all jokey and funny when my wife and I first sat down to sign the paperwork, I almost was going to say I'll take my business to the other dealership.

It's so great you guys can provide these type of valuable info.

^^ everyone, please keep in mind that the finance 'managers' in dealerships are usually very successful sales staff that have been promoted to that position, and do make good money the 'easy' way, compared to the rest of the work staff at the dealership. They sell incredibly high profit margin products (interior 'protection' plan, extended warranty and maintenance plans, exterior paint protection, higher interest rate car loans, etc.) and they receive a good commission on it. When you buy nothing extra from them, you are basically wasting their time.

Once you have haggled your way with your car sales person and his/her sales manager, etc., you think the whole deal is done and over with, and you are taken to this nicely dressed finance 'manager' with a nice desk and a nice office, and the last thing you expect is being ripped off by this person. Well, you will be, big time, if you don't know what you are doing.

Sorry for any confusion. My recent post refers to the Extended MAINTENANCE Plan, and NOT the Extended WARRANTY Plan. If you want the Extended Maintenance Plan, which is ONLY through BMW, you need to buy it either prior to (in YOUR particular case) 6/3/2009 (or 50,000 miles) where it will cost you $1595 or prior to 6/3/2010 (or 60,000 miles) where it will cost you $1795. All clear?

Great Information. Thanks to all the poster on this board. I am purchaing a 2005 3.0 for my wife. A CPO car. The dealer quoted me $2495 for the extended maintenance package - crazy. This board jus saved me $800!! thanks again!
