Well crap, wish I would have seen this earlier and I would have chimed in.

But I am going to chime in anyways. I picked up my 4.8is for around $32K and it is CPO'ed and I got it with 33K miles on it. But I spent a good amount of time at the dealer getting the price to where I wanted it, and what I wanted out of my trade-in.

Always do your research on the car. When I purchased my 02 5-series I purchased CPO'ed. When I went to trade it in there was an incident on the car fax about it in New York before I even owned it. It made me really question how a BMW becomes CPO'ed. Lesson learned I suppose.

But like everybody says get ready for the Mods, I already did my hardwiring of a V1, navigation software upgrade to v31, Dinan Struct Tower Brace, and I just got the Weather Tech Rubber Floor Mats which are awesome!

Questions let me know!

Hey jsears. Thanks for the diligent follow through! Couple of points...

- Was the incident on the carfax report of the CPO car? Because I believe according the BMW's policy, a CPO'd car can't be involved in an accident.

- Post some pics and write-up of the hardwired V1 (like the great one you did on the Dinan Strut Bar). You should also look into getting a Steath One for your Valentine 1. It makes all the difference.

- Why did you update to v31 and not v32, just curious.

- Did you get the floor mats or the floor liners?

The first thing I am looking at is the Nav update. Right now I have v26. I just quickly looked over how to upgrade at work. I will sit down this weekend and get it done... Any sugestions for different threads to look at?

-The carfax didn't state what the issue was, but I found out for any damage over $500 in NY it has to be reported, so I was like that could go pretty quickly in a BMW. But it was odd, because it had the "incident" listed and then it went to the auction blocks, and then it skipped to 2 different BMW dealerships before the one I purchased it at. Since I traded-in it in at the point I wasn't going to bother with the research.

-Thanks about the Dinan Strut Bar right up. I thought they install was pretty easy, just have to use some muscle on it to get the end plates on. All of the pictures turned out like crap though since it was dark by the time I got started, but I figured a good write up would at least help the next person. Plus knowing the size of all of the tools you need is key!

-I've thought about getting a Stealth One, just haven't convinced myself yet. I used the suction cup holder on my windshield for a while, and well I guess I am accelerate a little too quickly sometimes and it feel and hit me in the leg. V1's hurt!!! So it is mounted on the sun visor. I kind of like it up there, because I am 6'8'' and so I sit up high and I can see everything just out of the upper peripheral vision of my eye so I don't have to have the beeping up that high to get my attention.

-On my BMWCCA VBB that I am part of somebody posted the v31 software, so I went down that route. If I had spent the time and found the v32 I would have done that. Just a matter of me being lazy.

-I bought the WeatherTech Digital Fit Floor Liners. I wasn't sure if I would like them after I unboxed them, but one they were installed and accidentally got some mud on my shoes and see them not get on my carpet I was sold! WeatherTech Automotive Accessories - FloorLiner? DigitalFit? - 2006 BMW X5 - WeatherTech Floor Liner - floor liner, floor tray protects and lines the floor of truck and SUV carpeting from mud, snow, water and dirt

Like I stated my was v31. I got it off of a BMWCCA VBB that I am a member of. It actually has a customized splash screen:

I don't mind the ///M logo, makes it look sportier to me. But I got an .iso of it so it was a piece of cake to burn the CD and update it. You just have to be careful of when it ejects the CD that you run back and grab it right quick otherwise it will load the software again.

If you are interested in v31 with that splash screen PM me and I will send you the link to download it.

X5 M-Sport: Make sure you know what you are doing so read through a bunch of threads on the Navigation forum because it CAN be screwed up. If you are under the original manufacture warranty then a screw up can be fixed likely no problem. If not under that warranty and it gets chunked, it's gonna cost you to have the dealer fix it.
Safest is to let your dealer do the upgrade. Second safest is to buy the disk yourself for a few bucks. You can get it for around $10-15 from your local dealer (p/n 01 59 0 141 891) or online at getbmwparts.com

jsears - Good to know all that info. No difference really with v32 as yet proven. Just thought I'd ask since it is in all likelihood the last one they will release so I figured might as well have the last one. Stealth One is awesome, but hard as hell to find now (occasionally on ebay) and likely will not be made again. I was curious about the floor mats because the floor liners are evidently heads and shoulders better then the other two choices for rubber floor mats that BMW offered. I haven't bought them yet, but I probably will. Post a few pictures of yours, I'd like to see the one on the back seat.

Very true! I know I am not responsible if you screw up your Navi!

I was scared out of my pants when I put that disk in, and I even work in IT. Luckily I got though it!

I have an original V32 if you just want to hook up at United. I'm over there all the time buying stuff for my 530. I'll let you buy me a joey bag of donuts.
