My passenger mirror folds as intended but the trouble that arose today with my driver side mirror is that is no longer folds in and has about two inches of play. While I was fascinated by removing the housing to try and resolve my new mirror problem it seems it's not the switch. But maybe the armature of the motor itself? Anyone have that issue with theirs? I guess I'll be having this mirror replaced if there is no easy fix!

Davey...sounds like the swivel motor may be burned out or broken if there's play in it. You'll have to replace the entire mirror assembly. In a somewhat related problem, my driverside mirror was no longer adjustable in the mirror part. That also caused the folding and unfolding problem. I just replaced the assembly with a used one I found on ebay and now everything works again.

My mirror has something funny going on with it. The passenger side mirror folds in and than when i unfold both the driver side unfolds first and than the passenger side will unfold 5seconds later... and when it fold it folds slowly. Does anyone have any idea whats going on? maybe a miss alignment?

I would imagine they are somehow connected. I also saw strange things happening when I didn't have the switch on correctly. One would fold, then when I pressed the button a second time the other would fold, then another press and one would fold out followed immediately by the other one.

I kept fussing with the switch assembly and looking at the one that I removed (I replaced it with one from eBay). Once I got it in the right spot everything synced up and worked perfectly.

Now, as an earlier poster stated, if I can just keep my passengers from slamming these doors!!! They'll shut THEMSELVES if you just stay out of their way.

Great tutorial Sarb, the pics really helped explain what needed to be done. Mirrors working perfectly again. I have to remind the valets at my work to stop folding the mirrors manually when parking my car.
