This was a the inside of her tire after it blew out on the tollway on the way to O'Hare.

On good days.

On this particular day I met her with my car and did a five tire two car tire exchange to get her a full set of matching tires that weren't ticking time bombs.

The tires were full tread and showed no rot just too old an apparently brittle

Bonus pic of my hand in one of the gaping holes on the outside of the tire.

We've switched to Dunlop grand trek wt mk 3 and mk2 and never turning back. I've measured over 3/8g acceleration on wet slush and over 1/2 g braking on same. That's half as good as dry pavement.

I use them year round so I have effectively infinite more traction than the next guy when I hit that first rain in a while oily spot in Chicago. They have paid for themselves in just a few short months.

In my case with M3s and runflat they stick out past the rim. Well automatic curb protection. I skipped off a curb going 30 the other day. When I pulled over to see if I just shredded $600 worth of tires not to mention rims all that happened was the tire shine from a recent wash was dull.

"Paid for themselves "

Is that the case with all runflats?i noticed the conti sportcontact5 ssr I got for the rears the lip sticks way out , more than any tire I've seen. I kinda like it, more protection but I was wondering if that's the case with the runflats .

I don't think all run flats do that but the type that work on normal rims I think are more likely to be such.

Funny thing: didn't know M3 were runflat until I had them mounted and noticed the curious fact they stuck out past the rim.

Replaced power steering reservoir and fluid because of 'stiff' places when turning.

What did you do to / for your E53 today??

Washed her after about 3-4 weeks of not driving or visiting her in the garage

Compressor rebuilt

Got a chance to rebuild the compressor with the bagpipingandy kit, the cylinder walls had some dirt inside possibly from the old ring grinding against them.
All good, much quieter, works as it should.
I should say my compressor ran just fine, a little on the low side as far as pressure goes, but I didn't want to let it fail so I did it as a preventative thing.

Daughter helped too so that was a plus. She really likes turning wrenches and she's only 3.
