The exact sets i used.

The factory unions worked with S.A.E. sizes the new fittings worked with metric.

Those are on sale and a very good deal.

I've used the flare crow many times since i bought for this job.

Like you suggested, you can use them with a torque wrench, if you include a universal you can get the center over the output of the tq wrench and get an accurate reading.

Usually only the main lines between the wheel arches need replacing. It's a factory defect they crimp the lines at the bend and crack the paint. On my car the entire two lines were "made of rust" but the crossover to the right rear was fine i didn't replace.

The exact iso flare kit. Needed some tweaking but worked perfectly once cleaned up.

Firm constant pressure on brake pedal and foot drops but no leak can really only mean the seal on the master cylinder is leaking. You can get a rebuild kit.

My eee seventy seema to have a minor leak and I'll be doing that rebuild myself.

X was squealing A LOT due to (I think) a leaking expansion tank. Replaced the tank a couple weeks ago but noise didn't go away. Finally changed tensioner this weekend and unfortunately squealing is still present - serpentine belt is only a couple months old so I didn't change it out. Next job - new belts and idler.

Ended up creating more work for myself by damaging the vacuum pipe that runs across the engine bay and had to replace that as well.

How cold and when squeal? PS pump famous for cold squeal.

Water pump bearing is often a source even if not common on x5.

Does it happen on cold starts for 90 - 120 seconds?

I just ordered new pulleys due to a cold morning squeal. I have not heard it since it's warmer now.

Going to verify pulleys are okay today.

Thanks for response - appreciate it.

Squeals on start up at idle and gets louder with higher RPMs. Will go away if i spray enough belt dressing on it but will come back with engine speed.

This may be beyond my amateur skill set and the time I have to invest right now.

I had the same. Tensioner did nothing for me. I had my shop replace it last winter and it did nothing for me. Last winter it would go away after fully warmed up. THIS winter, it was persistent 100% of the time if below 30* outside. I had them replace belts and pulley attached to alternator bracket and it FINALLY was completely resolved!!!

Thanks. I'm guessing the pulley/idler near the alternator as well. Had so much coolant leaking all over everything the bearings are probably shot. Car has 200k+ miles so I guess this would fall under routine maintenance even if done before.

Appreciate the support and will report back when I get it resolved.
