Just hit 100K this week. Only repairs have been front CV boots and preventative R/R of expansion tank and water pump. Old school maintenance program. So far so good...Chef Kevin

My original '04 X5 3.0 purchased new had 125k when I decided to upgrade. The only services done we regular maintenance with oil done every 7k and the expansion tank. Awesome car and loved it.

I decided to mix things up and bought a '06 X5 4.8iS and still have it today. I bought it used CPO with 43k and currently have 73k in my 2nd year of ownership. The only work beside regular maintenance were rear airbags due to leakage but that was covered under CPO for $50.

I still have it today and absolutely love it. I am putting together my list of preventative maintenance to begin this summer.

Cheers,

My '04 X5 6-speed 3.0 just hit 102K. So far I replaced the water pump, belts, front axle(torn boots), and oil separator/hoses, and valve cover. Everything else seems to be working well.

I have to convert from kilometers as they tend to do things in metric here in the UAE - just celebrated the big 100 (thousand), making 62,800 miles (101064 Km)

I bought the car as third owner 18 months ago when it had 47,850 miles (77,000 Km) but maybe due to the heat and dusty atmosphere have had to replace the following BROKEN parts...

front and back wash-wipe pumps
Front left shock
Back right air suspension 'baloon'
Front left window regulator
Front right window regulator
Back left window regulator
and of course, back right window regulator
Drivers' door handle actuator (embarassing!!)
Drivers' door gasket (rubber seal)
Power steering fluid supply hoses (2 - bad leak)
Coolant expansion tank
PDC control box
Light covers inside the tailgate and rear footwell
Rubber grippers in the running boards
Wash-wipe resevoir cap (how??)

Plus I also had to -

Re-glue rubber strip along the roof
replace windshield surround rubber (perished)
Find a way to get the panaoramic roof cover out to replace the fabric - the glue or any kind of tape, even Gorilla tape, melts in the heat

and the general service parts, brake pads, spark plugs (early, but to treat rough idle), trans flush and filter, fuel pump and filter etc etc.

Will need new tires pretty soon, but you can see that I am pretty sick with repairing all the other shit that is defective. I had a 323i in the UK which is a damp-as-hell country and I never had one issue with it in 3 years of ownership. I sold it to a friend who drove it all round Europe and back, no problem. What is with the X5??

Love the car to bits (as does the wife and daughter) but have had the creeping feeling I should have bought the Range Rover....

Any potential X5 buyer in the Middle East, please take note that these are common problems all the bmwclubuae.com members are aware of!!

a hair over 69K original miles on my 2002, 3.0i.
Repairs so far...
- FSR resistor
- Fan Blower Motor
- CV boots
- Alternator/New Battery
- other than that, regular oil changes, inspection II, tires and coolant flush.

Thinking about upgrading to an 2004-2006 X5, 3.0i, but I am having a hard time finding one that's in good condition with relatively low mileage.

If any of your comes across one, let me know.
