Theres a good DIY on E46Fanatics for it, room in our engine bay is a bit easier to work, however.

Basically take whole intake system off including the throttle body, move the big cluster of wiring harness out the way, and get the 2 blind screws that hold the valve to the engine off, and break off the hoses in the process.

RB, I looked at the Nicker? thread on the E46 site, which I believe you reference. Helpful. The question is how much of the CCV stuff I need to replace, compared to just cleaning it out, given that mine was done 30k miles ago just before I bought it and hasn't suffered through your yankee winters .... all in hopes of burning less oil? Might not be a cost/benefit there, though it would be a mental health benefit to know those pipes & valves are all minty-fresh, at least for a little while ....

If it was done 30k miles ago you are good for a while.

You're in HOTlanta so I don't think you need cold weather parts. When you get another 60k on the replacement parts you may want to look into doing it again.

I'm finding that time on the stock CCV system is just as detrimental as mileage. For example my stock one lasted 11 years but really should have been done at 10, that last winter was rough and I was lucky. But I only had 68k miles on my original system, so the mileage was irrelevant.

I would say as a regular interval you should do the CCV and hoses every 6 years or so, regardless of mileage. There are 4 hoses and the valve itself to replace

Hi

I would like to introduce myself and my ride
My dark beast is a 2000 manual gearbox 3.0i X5 with around 89k miles.
Only one previous owner but he was "lazy with the maintenance" to say it sweetly.

It really needs some mods:
- Manual gearbox was really faulty so replaced with a second hand one: done
- Interior exchange (had fabric seats and now I have installed grey leather interior): done
- Complete engine check: done
- DEEP Interior clean: in progress
- Some body cosmetic changes: In progress

Welcome! External cosmetics look good, and certainly low mileage.

For the age (15 years) she doesnt look bad at all my friend, Welcome!

It may be the lighting in the pictures but it almost looks like aftermarket tint was installed on the rear windows (looks a shade to be faded to purple). I'd add that to the list as well, obviously cosmetic wise you can choose to keep your truck in the amber club or go to clear, regarding the side markers/headlights/tails.

Low miles though, she should run for quite some time, best of luck! Where in Europe are you?

Hi Ricky Bobby

Yes the windows are tinted, probably the purple look is more due to photo enhancements :-)
It has some breaks in the tint of the rear window but I have been told it is a nightmare to get rid of the tint so for the time being I will keep it as it is.

Regarding the lights, yes, I have already purchased the front headlights and I am in the hunt for clear tail lights + blinkers, I really cannot bear the amber in any car

I am also planning to convert it to LPG, but still not sure (I have other car running LPG so I know it, it is just that I have to do some maths to ensure it has economic sense)

Currently I am in Madrid (Spain).

Looking forward to slapping some squared 20's on it and eventually lowering it. What's everyone else up to?
Whaaaaaaat no way, your Topaz one is fixed? Thats awesome! Make sure you retrofit the switches for the rear seat heaters, hope you have some nice interior trim to swap in as well! I always wanted comfort seats but the Dakota in mine won't match the Nappa, so unless I swapped a whole interior the mismatch of the leathers would bother me.

I did the GAS kit last year and a new intake elbow prevenatively while I was doing the CCV last summer. Replaced a brake light switch this year, I may do the passenger window regulator preventatively.

Other than that she is running like a champ, so good in fact I may buy her a present soon, like a Shark Injector, running boards, or a Dynavin!

^Thats exactly what I wanted to hear! I was afraid of spending $300 to have a negligible difference in power delivery
