Really grateful for this thread.
I am flying down south on Friday to pick up my second 4.8iS and purposely tracked one down without NAV to make the dynavin install a little easier.

I guess i'll be going through Jeff for the purchase because this thread has shown that he provides good customer service which seems like a necessity with installation questions.
I look forward to being back behind the wheel

If all goes well on Friday I will be driving home an 06 with super low miles. I don't want to jinx myself but yea I am definitely coming back. The 7 was great and I enjoyed it for two years but I have missed the X since I got rid of it.

One of my driving forces for the sale was the lack of technology but I have a feeling the Dynavin should resolve that. Keep an eye out though I have some pretty cool ideas and mods planned for this one (planning on giving it a permanent home).

PDC Integration Not Working

Recently installed N6 on an E53 and high hopes for the unit. Generally pretty good although iGo Navigation is not up to Garmin standards; regularly takes wrong routes and display is cluttered and despite all the options can't declutter it.

The iPhone interface could do with some improvements, I haven't been able to navigate Artist->Album->Track and then reverse in the same sequence.

Biggest problem is PDC, it simply doesn't work. Screen doesn't engage when put into reverse and even when using the green reverse wire to activate reverse, the camera then comes on but no PDC display. Had it checked by BMW and no issues with PDC.

Anyone else had a problem with PDC or success?

I am still behind with all the camera and PDC thing but as I understood it, PDC integration works with SOME models so it was never a sure thing that it was going to work in our e53...

PDC Success

I've got the PDC display to work on my E53 X5 The problem was I was testing it by putting the car into reverse without the engine running. Although the PDC sensors beep correctly and the reverse camera is shown on the display the PDC dispaly on the Dynavin shows nothing. However with the engine running it all works perfectly.

The only thing I might change is that currently I activate the head unit from the reversing light output on the Light Module Controller (X38 connector pin 9 or 10). It would be better to use the PDC light output since PDC is engaged in both forward and reverse gears when parking (X38 connector pin 1). Currently the Dynavin screen switches off when I put it into drive.

Dynavin N6 install -Pics!

I'll give all those playing at home a hot tip - do NOT buy the reverse camera off the J&T website with your Dynavin order, it does not fit at all. This is the one that goes in the license plate light location. I have spent the past 6 hours making it fit. So progress has been slow.

Recommend using a universal butterfly camera in the lower tailgate instead.

You need to run a relay with the reverse camera. The reverse light wire or the PDC wire has to much noise in the line. Use a relay and use the reverse light as the trigger. Since I don't use my CD changer anymore ( not sure who does) I used the power wire from that to my relay.

I agree. I had to epoxy mine in to the holder. I need to do an update some time next summer. Also the camera led for the license plate light triggers the license plate warning light on the cluster.

Yeah I basically had to cut it down with a dremel until it resembled a flat base with a camera sticking out of it, then trim the borders so it would sit flush in the light housing, fill with Sikaflex and tape it all together and allow to dry overnight.

I turned my license plate bulb check off but it still throws the code....annoying.
