My dealer said that the word is BMW are due to release some new bolt on tips for the 3.0 petrol and deisel similar to the 4.8 tips, but he could not give me any more info so not holding my breath

I can imagine if you buy tips that are not designed for this car and you try to modify the exhaust that this will void the warranty but otherwise I can't see any problem.

Another alternative is, get the original '08 3.0si chrome exahust (circular, not oval). I looked at them from beneath the car this weekend (I see my car under the sun only during the weekends, because I work like a slave....), and they seem to be inserted into the stainless steel exhaust like.. uhm... condoms..... he he...
It does not look as good as 4.8i's oval ones, but definitely lot better than the stainless steel ones. I still do not have the picture....

any notes on proper removal of rear bumper...
i have AC Schnitzer exhaust tips i want to install but i may need to have the stock tip cut off an inch.... there isn't much clearance to cut around without touching the bumper/plastic area...and i don't want to scratch it or risk damaging it... does anyone have documentation on removal???

On the home page there are instructions on the E53 bumper removal, I imagine they might be similar to the E70, sorry searched all over, but havent found any specific instructions. the E70 Trailer hitch instrucitons include info about removing bumper but nothing detailed enough, but could be your starting point.
Please let us know how it turns out, can you for now attach tips without cutting pipes and show us some pics? Thanks. Quote:

i was more concerned about the PDC sensors on the bumpers.. not sure how they are affected when removing the rear bumper...
just wanted to know if there were any hidden connectors that needed to be removed.. i also plan on attaching the bolt-on tips without cutting anything this weekend just to see how they look... the tips are shortest i've found...(6.25inches long) and believe me i've been searching for months..... but just from the looks of it, they will stick out a couple of inches...

Another member explained how he fitted a Euro tow bar to his E70 which required the removal of the bumper
