Placebo? My guess is this will rank up there with the "Turbonator", "Tornado" and the "spiralmax" to name a few.
Still seems like a waste of $300 but if you think it "feels faster" then more power to you. Seems odd that there are no US distributors of such a great product? From the companys website, here are there published results: Results • At low revs, the engine responds at approximately half the time in comparison to before. • The delay time whilst accelerating in 3rd and 4th gear and the engine in the mid-range, is almost zero. • Big differences in the higher rev range. • Improved response for downshifts and safer overtaking. • Overall safety and more fun on the road!

It's interesting how the only people who have bad things to say about SB (or are dubious about it) are people who have never even tried it.....while the people who have tried it on multiple cars wouldn't live without it. As a matter of fact those of us in this thread that have used the Sprint Booster before (me and sirees01) are so satisfied with it that we want one for our other cars too.
Placebo effect? Well, that wouldn't explain how my wife noticed that her car felt quicker when she didn't even know I had installed anything on it. I respect everyone's opinions here and feel that it's great for anyone who is curious about the SB to read opinions from both sides. However, I do have to say that every one of the arguments that you guys are making I have read over and over again by others on other BMW boards (heck, I even made the same arguments myself for the longest time)........but when the same people (including me) finally gave in and tried the Sprint Booster we never looked back. This is not an "Ad/Promo for this gizmo" and I'm not getting a "cut" from every Sprint Booster that is sold.......I'm just someone with first hand experience with using it on two cars and when the subject came up I just expressed my opinion on it. At $250 (or even $300) it's the cheapest way I know of to add some zip to the car and it can be installed or removed by the owner in less than 5 minutes......which is not the case with most other products like re-mapping, etc. If you don't believe that the Sprint Booster works, think that it's the placebo effect, or you don't feel comfortable using it on such an expensive car then just remember that no one is forcing you to buy one..............just as no one is forcing anyone to continuously come back and read this "Ad/Promo".

Not a matter of "trusting" any poster here, or the pages of testimonials...
if the prod is that effective, one would think the car mfgers would be lining up to add the prod. or, the technology. Imo, and in my long time but, possibly lower tech view of "car gizmos", the gadget may or may not have some different "feel"; whether it provides for real world, testable and repeatable statistical improvements is another issue. I really could not care less...it just seems to this reader that two pages of a couple posters bantering about some $300 buck gizmo that gives better toe in pedal feel is overdone. And, it smacks of pump and dump, imo. My Qtr's up. |

Repeatable? Absolutely.......every time I step on the pedal. Testable? I don't know....maybe it improves the 0-60 by 0.1 or 0.2 seconds, maybe it doesn't, but unless you are racing against other cars or measuring acceleration times to see whose "times" are faster then it really doesn't matter to me. What is much more important for me on day to day "real world" driving is how much quicker if feels with the SB vs. without it, and that is repeatable. That "feel" is real for me......but whether it translates into a measurable amount in the 0-60 acceleration is irrelevant in my day to day driving. I think I mentioned this in one of my "banters" above, but just to elaborate more..........the difference that the Sprint Booster makes is MUCH more noticeable on my 545 with the V8 then it is on my wife's X5 3.0i. It definitely makes a noticeable difference on the X5 3.0 by making it's otherwise anemic acceleration be more in par with her old E53 3.0....which is all she wanted anyways. However, with the 545 the Sprint Booster gives it an almost violent kick when you accelerate. The push back into the seat is immediate and much more intense than without the SB when accelerating from a stop, or even when going 50-70 MPH etc. This is something I haven't been able to emulate with just mashing the pedal down all the way fast when the SB is removed.
