We can offer flash tuning with the dimsport setup and they can use an at home genius system to load it but it's a much more expensive proposition, and the gains are not much higher than the JBD. Not enough to justify 4-6x the cost. |

Next time research your audience before stepping on some toes.... As I stated; everyone who's contributed to this thread was referring to a US spec'd BMW, which as you stated has different programming than the Euro spec'd BMW's. If your product is superior, provide proof like Terry asked for. As everyone is full of words, actual proof speaks louder (actions are louder than words as they say). |

I do not believe that any tuning box including your own Does not smoke. I would believe it does smoke but the cat collects it in the system, Think about what is happening, you are fooling the ECU into thinking the fuel pressure is low and so the ECU pumps more diesel in. That is where you are forcing power from, you are adding extra fuel so yes it will smoke. There is NO WAY you can fit a tuning box to the fuel pressure sensor and think the Air-Fuel ratios are going to be spot on. It is impossible. Again, you mention the ECU flashes, there is a huge difference between an OFF THE SHELF tune which is basically a one for all tune, a generic tune for the want of another word and comparing to a custom tune. A custom tune modifys the map of the car where as a generic tune simply is an off the shelf file flashed over the original tune. Now I am not slating or slamming generic off the shelf tunes here but more bhp can be got from a custom tune. I am sure you will agree with that. Are the flash tunes you use generic or do you custom tune them yourself? |

Yes I agree anyone these days can become a BMW remapping flasher but still I hope you do agree that off the shelf tunes do not perform as well as custom tunes as they cannot push the maps as much when they are basically a one for all. I do rate them though and with a company like Dimsport behind you are sure to get well set up maps from them and good support. |

Aidan,
The original post was asking about the JBD box, i think everyone understands your opinion...great...can we get this thread back on track as i'm interested in a JBD and would like feedback from those that have it, or similiar competitors...i'm not going to spend $1k + on a custom tune, my car is a lease and i'm not going to invest in supporting mods and everything else...i want a basic performance increase that's relatively safe at an inexpensive price....the JBD seems to fit the bill....yes, a flash to the ECM can control more variables...my truck has a "smarty" program running in it...it overwrites the stock maps with 10's of custom maps...it even let's me adjust rpm limit, top speed limit, rail pressure, tq mgmt de-rate, timing,....it's awesome...but i also have $10k of other supporting mods to keep it from blowing up....i'm not looking for somehting similiar for my x5...i'm looking for simple, effective and reasonably priced....and i dont care if it's tinfoil in a zip lock bag if it meets my needs....JBD / Terry is on this site, has been around for a while and appears to offer good customer service...is the JBD the end all, i doubt it for $279, but it seems like it has a following and is a good product for what i'm looking for....

The JBD is a fun tune. Would love for you to try one out and report your thoughts back to the group. If you're not 100% satisfied we'll happily take it back including your shipping. ![]() Best, T |

Terry,
Setup a group buy and I am sure there will be at least 10 posters here that will become happy new customers. Aidan seems too set in his own ways to be the least bit objective. Not too mention his own agenda. The thought of him cringing when each new name appears on the list will be priceless. |
