3 B650416 / 16V-071 Recall: Driver's Front Air Bag

Doesn't seem to be anything broke or damaged (saw some posts where others had issues). Although a code scan afterwards had 10 new codes I hadn't seen before on this vehicle. Took note, cleared, and all seems 'normal'.

Finally making some real traction ticking things off the long to-do list.
Which dealership?

How long did all the recalls take? Any issues getting a loaner? Also on my to do list but there's not a dealer close by unfortunately.

When I scheduled the appointment, I was quoted 3 hours and booked for 2:30pm. Over they phone they mentioned getting a loaner if it was necessary, but I was willing to wait. However, when I arrived, the SA told me I would have to leave the vehicle overnight and they offered a shuttle home. I started to discuss options, but then she (Carol) stopped me, made a quick call to to see what the techs could do, and 30 seconds later I was walking over to the lounge with assurance it would be done before they left at 5pm. I believe she said they had two people working at the same time. About 5:10-ish (don't remember exactly), I was standing outside waiting for them to pull around, so overall approx 2.5 hours.

I was with my son, so the relatively short wait was not a problem for me. Carol was awesome and it was by far the best experience at any dealer (BMW or otherwise) I've had in 20 years.

I had notices for the airbags for a while, but didn't act on it until I could get my misfire fixed. Right after that was corrected, I got the notice for the fuel pump (parts available). Coincidentally (?), right after that, I got P0442 for fine/small EVAP leak that I thought/hoped a new gas cap would solve (but didn't) not wanting to have to track it down elsewhere. I started doing some initial smoke testing, then read a bunch of threads about the fuel pump issues, which made me decide to stop any of that work until the pump was replaced hoping again the code was from the pump.

Since they did the recall work on the pump, no code and the EVAP readiness in Mode $06 for 'small' - EVAP Monitor (0.040") I think - which was failing, has shown valid/acceptable/passing measurements for the last couple of fuel refills so I'm convinced the pump was the issue. Phew!

Cool

Did a sport steering wheel with paddle swap today.

Happy to say the paddles worked perfectly with no coding or wiring required!

Before:

After:

I gotta say the sport wheel is much nicer. It's a smaller diameter for sharper turning radius, and much fatter for that sporty feeling.

Old one is terrible.... I can not imagine how they created such technical mistake you could swap with heating or you do not have winter?

Car came from Texas. No cold weather.

Just about every other option, though, including active drivers seat.
