Both, the inner parts are BWM the black rings are from parts unknown (no stamps in plastic). Probably cheap Chinese junk.

The grills were ordered online and when they arrived the plastic tabs that mount into the hood were "marginal garbage" so I popped the outer rings off (that looked really nice) and put them on my OE bodies and put them back in.

The lesson is if you pay less than $50 on Amazon for these your probably getting junk that was spray painted.

Change my transfer case fluid. Didn’t have the special tool so I just dropped the crossmember and used a regular 14mm hex socket.

I've been putting off removing the phone cradle for a year and I finally got around to it this weekend. Not sure why I waited so long as it only took 30 mins lol

That's great, I have been meaning to do that as well.
Did you follow a step-by-step?
How did you get that side panel off ??

I used this DIY thread. The wires he removed are different than what was in my X5, I had an extra wire/connector that I had to remove. You can see the 3 connects in my previous post.

The Kenco Club | Removing the phone cradle on a BMW X5 (E70)

Basically, there's a torx screw on the panel towards the engine bay. Remove that, slide the panel forward, then slide the other panel that's under the armrest forward. Then you'll see the wire that connects to the cradle. Hardest part was removing the big black connector from the harness.

They make the plug black so it's harder to decode how to take it apart LOL

I will get snap-in adapter. I hate when the phone is outside somewhere. So far I am using that armrest box to share internet for youtube
