Drove it in the snow to Reno through 80 east. Trip was about 500 miles r/t and seemed to burn about 1/4 qt of oil.
On the way home, I noticed the backup camera displayed a black screen. I stepped out and banged the sheetmetal around the camera a few times and got it working for a bit. Hopefully, it dries out and ends up working. Otherwise, used cameras are around $100 on ebay.

Finished up replacing the front brakes yesterday using Zimmerman rotors and Akebono Euro pads.
The caliper bracket E12 bolts were quite snug, but with a little heat, they broke loose. Everything else was uneventful. I was having some vibration with light braking. I first replaced the lower control arms, but the vibration was still there, although somewhat reduced. Now, I have smooth braking with no vibration at any speed and braking force. While the front end was in the air, I also knocked out an oil change.

Replaced the long bolt going through the transfer case support. Apparently, the nut had fallen off and disappeared. Dealer told me a few weeks ago when I went for recall. It was hanging half way out of the carrier. Both bushings/bearings are shot.
Still can't figure out where the buzzing is coming from. Sounds like it's coming from the middle to the back of the vehicle. Typically hear it loud and clear between 42-55mph. It's scaring the bejeezus out of me. Considering going to an indie or dealer to try to find it. Topped off the oil after looking at the OFHG and shaking my head when trying to figure out a time to get it replaced. Already have that, the VCG, and the Oil Cooler Gasket staring at me every time I go into the garage. Just need the time. When I closed the hood, I barely touched the driver side kidney grill. The entire thing fell out. This two section part is a POS from BMW. I went through too much of this nonsense with my E39's. Oddly, never had a problem with my E32. Go figure. Why is BMW still making these grills cheaply? The tabs are tiny and break off quickly. I'd imagine these are the originals though, and we know what age and heat does to plastic. So, I used JB Weld to put secure the chrome lip to the backing. Waiting for it to dry so I can put it in. Looking at some of the Ebay knockoffs, it appears to me they are secured better. Of course, there are no chrome available, only gloss black. With a dark Oxford Green car, not sure if it will look right.

Yeah, I would just clean that area and monitor. That oil could have come from a small spill when changing the oil filter and then it was blown all over by the fan. The CAC pipe typically leaks before the FMIC on the 335d so I would look for a mess there also. |

I replaced a fog light that had come unclipped and smashed itself the other day- must have been poorly installed. I'll epoxy my PDC sensor bracket back in place next week with the warmer weather, and I just ordered a new drivers side rear inner tail to replace my burned out LED's. so... by the send of next week, I will hopefully have an error free startup! I can't wait!!
I have a delete+ tune planned for next Saturday too, so that should really wake the car up, improve mpg and reliability. Sidenote- the fact that a PDC sensor error will block the entire backup screen, and force you to see the error screen instead of continue showing you the camera of what's around you, is completely asinine, and counter productive. I don't care if your ultrasonic sensors are't working, why would you take away the ability to see what's around/ behind me while I'm backing up?!?!?

3 days ago: I mounted the PDC, and the bracket is in place. I repaired the broken with on the harness side of the connector, but maybe my sensor was damaged when it was hit. Ordered a replacement off ebay, a used OEM one. This one is on and off giving an error now, after working the moment we put it back together. Grr...
2 days ago: I also installed the carplay box, and now have fully functioning carplay in my e70! Super happy with this, and it operates as if it was there from the factory. Yesterday: Changed my squeaky blower motor out with a new one, and swapped in 3 new cabin air filters. 2 in the engine bay, and the recirculation filter. I'm attempting to rid my vents of the cigarette smell. The latter smelled light cigarettes, so I'm hoping a fresh one really helps rid the lingering smell. At some point I'll be getting a real interior detail, but until then, I'll survive with fresh(er) air blowing in my face! Saturday I'm having my 35d deleted and tuned with DUDMD. Then Sunday I'm driving 800 miles round trip to pick up my new (to me) 18' car trailer! getting it for a good enough deal that the day of driving is worth it. Going to get through a lot of my audiobook that day!

Getting ready to paint my brake calipers. Cleaned them up first with a few wire wheels and hit them with the high heat primer. I had removed my ABS pump to replace my catalytic converter,(https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...-bank-1-a.html) so I needed to have my lines bled anyways. It's only right to paint my calipers the legit way by removing them. Going to paint them a blueish color with some BMW decals and install some Powerstop Z16 pads and rotors all around.

Replaced the right rear body mounted TPMS sensor transceiver and the primary TPMS receiver on the '08. TIS stated that the transceiver was located in the forward part of the wheel well right by the back door, but that is wrong. Turns out it's on the rearward part, basically just forward of the bumper. You still need to remove a portion of the wheel well liner to make the replacement.
The primary receiver is confirmed for the '08 to be located under the left side (drivers side for LHD) on the outside of the frame rail. You pull the left side under body cover and just behind the front door and there it is. Now, as I await a new plastic rivet gun to replace/reinstall the right rear fender molding with new plastic rivets I am cleaning up some appearance issues. ![]()
