That's right Haur.
Too bad that the language of the BT module, TV and instrument cluster cannot be changed like in the Nav system. Bought the car in Germany, that's why the instrument cluster defaults to German. |

Danish MKIII
Quote:
MKIII version (based om v29 immage), custom splash screen, Danish menu text (navtweak'ed) and Danish female voice (from a dk_f.csf I obtained on the Internet). I've replaced the Deutch option with Danish). Everything seems to work, apart from 1) Translation of the TV module text and 2) TMC messages are now in Deutch. Any hints as to how I fix (translate) the TV module and how I get Danish TMC messages? - Jann |

After some time I'm back here to see if any other Danes have joined... and I'm very happy to see that the future looks good :-) For about half a year ago I also found a danish lady voice inside some other "Naviteq" image I found on the net somewhere... and I also managed to swap the german language file to danish... But after awhile I noticed that not all words seams to be in the file, one example is the motorway names, eg. E45... In English I remember the navi tells me something like: "Turn right to follow the E45", but with my Danish language file all that is said it "Drej til højre"/"Turn right"... and there is a small pause, which to me indicate that the navi tries to play the rest of the words, but it is just blank in the file... I think I also tried to use the TweakSound utility to look for the missing words, and I found them, but they were blank... So if your sound file is better than mine, then please do share :-) Regarding the text you described, I actually also startet to translate the huge language file, but got bored and a bit confused along the way, but I do remember TMC messages, so I'm quite sure they can be translated, I will look into it soon and get back to you. What did you do with the danish voice file. Did you only rename it? I have tryed to change over to Swedish but everytime I try my nav DVD says its a corrupt CD in the drive. BR//Tobmag |

Tobmag,
I have replaced the German (DE) option with Danish; to get danish text and speech I have to select language: DE. So I've renamed the danish language file refered ealier in this thread to d_f.csf and replaced the original German file (in ...\langMk3\0501\) with the danish file. I don't know if the same language file can be used in MKIII & MKIV. E5M1R, I don't want to translate the TMC messages, I just want to figure out how the NAV unit selects TMC language...and then change it to DK. I've found a number of possible strings that could work, but if someone could point me to the right one I would be much obliged. You have a PM - thx - Jann |

Same Language files can be used in MK III and MK IV
VDO systems witch MK IV is based on have Danish as a menu, voice and TMC language. BMW have chosen not to have Danish and some others, so unless you can integrate Danish to MK IV (your voice file would be dk_f.csw and it wold be recognized) text wold be on danish and TMC as well. Right now yor MK IV System is set on German, you just renamed danish files to german and it works, but not for TMC. TMC text is located on the CD/DVD so when you get a TMC message the nav will retrewe it in german since your nav unit is still set to german. |
