Yes it will. To keep your custom splash screen you must modify the navboot file whenever you download a new software version.

Yes, if the update is a higher version OS than what you have currently installed.

eg: if your custom OS is labelled 4-1/101, then a new version of 4-1/100 will not update it.

I think your fault was that you burned the update as a Mode1 CD and not in Mode2 as it should be for MK3. Btw. the V22 is the last real update for MK3...

i used ImgBurn to write the CD... so it had to be correct Mode. i know that v22 has the last update for MK3, i didnīt have v22 at that time so i tried it with v32.

aise - just because you burned the CD with ImgBurn doesn't necessarily mean it's in the correct mode. Put the disc back into your PC and read the info on it to see which mode it's in.

Perspective mode starts from the v29 (as far as I remember)..... and now v32 is released.... so which version do you have is still not clear.... Go to MENU-SET (SETTINGS) and in the right upper corner you'll see version number.... if it would be SW 4-1/00 then you have the last version if last figures (00) would be other - you have not the last version and better to update (but of course not obligatory )

Can you help me? I have an early-2000 (U.S.-spec) X5 with Mark II GPS (with the original firmware). I have recently moved to Belgium. I have the 06-1 Navteq Europe DVD (from another BMW) but my X5 Mk II doesn't recognize it. I've read the forums but am still unsure what to do. Thanks.
