Mk I, Mk II and MkIII navigation units has only CD drive. That is the reason why it cannot be recognized. Your Mk II CD drive cannot read a DVD disk. DVD drive is present in Mk IV unit only.

To solve this: Find a CD map disk or retrofit Mk IV navigation unit.

To have the perspective view you have to update your navi SW. I recommend to use v32 'cause it's the latest.

Yes. You are as You having SW version 7.0 from Navigation distribution disk update V27.

1) The current version of SW is 10.00 from Navigation distribution disk update V31 or V32 (same SW version 10.00). See: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...ystem-faq.html
2) You are missing: Bugfixes to Navigation distribution disk update V27 with SW version 7.0 ageinst V31/32 SW10.00 for Mk4 unit
3) You are missing: Capability to read dual layer DVD map disk. Started from NavSW V31 disk see: http://www.xoutpost.com/450864-post1.html DL DVD map appeared for the first time in 2008-02 Europe version BMW map disk
Edit: Ooops, You are from US. No Europe map needed. But, some rumours goes that 2009-01 North America map could be on DL DVD, but I am not sure, there is no guarantee! Search forums please as this can be totaly wrong.

Hi, I would like to update my navigation software but I'm a bit of a newbie in this area so I hope somebody can help me a bit. I have heard people are having a defect navigation after updating their Mini Cooper Navigation system :Frown: I have a Mini Cooper with navigation version SW 4-1/30 ( shown settings menu). I have ejected my BMW Road Map Europe high DVD 2004-02 out of the dvd-drive I would like to use my new bought BMW Road Map Europe high DVD 2008-02. Can I just put the new DVD 2008-02 in my drive?
I read this on the cooper forum the MINI logo is replaced with a BMW logo on startup. Is this always the case

CORRECTION V31

I fitted my MKIV and the dealer supposedly loaded V32 on to it without coding it to the car. The warning screen did not appear when I started the car. Today they coded it to the car and the warning screen comes on and doesn't go off after 8 seconds. Is the Australian coding/specs different by chance? I asked the dealer to code it to European specs but they looked at me blankly and said we don't have an option to do that.

Yes, there are 3 x regional settings:
Europe
USA
Oceania

The official BMW dealer doesn't even know this, he is automatically locked into his appropriate region by the BMW factory software. He cannot change his region, he probably doesn't even know the regions exist, as he only works within his region

Only when people go outside of their region (like here on X5world) do you realise other regions exist and that the behaviour, configuration and settings of the BMW can be different

Oceania mode makes the warning screen appear. The dealer cannot change that, because it is exactly how BMW want it to be for Australia.

But NavCoder can change it :-)

Thanks for the reply. So does that mean the Australian regional setting doesn't have the 8 second delay before the warning screen switches off?

Navcoder would be nice to have but I don't have a laptop or lead and I wouldn't use it enough to justify buying these. Keep up the good work though!
