Has anyone done this on a mac? Which burn software did you use? Will the burner software on the mac work?

If I have a 2004 BMW 760 that has never had the firmware updated, this download includes all that updates, or do I have to go step by step?

May be a stupid question, but I want to make certain. Thanks.

Thanx UCrew. Figured it out after I posted the message.

Hi - long time lurker first time poster here....

Just wanted to post quickly for others in my boat with basically no experience in DVD burning, RAR files, ISO files, Images etc... My (soon to be) wife and I just bought the the second cheapest certified 05 X5 4.4 in the country. I found this site long before our purchase as I'm active on several VAG and Porsche forums and know how much help the the community can be - and has been already. Thanks. We are already in love with our first Bimmer but find the Navigation system a bit outdated, so I turned here to for help and found lots of it.

I first downloaded ImgBurn (for free) as suggested all over the site. Using another freeware program, "DVD Decrypter" I created an image (ISO file) of my current map (2005.2 North America) and then burnt a new map DVD using ImgBurn on a Verbatim DVD-R at 1x speed as suggested. Put it the truck (can I call it that?) and it worked fine, so I continued to the next step. I downloaded V32 (or v31 - I'll let the experts debate) from the link in post 1 of this thread and then used ImgBurn to make an .ISO file from the .RAR file I downloaded. Then I burnt it to DVD. I figured out this was wrong before hiking out to the driveway with it. I opened the disk and didn't see the 7 folders and 41 files someone mentioned. Just a .rar file I couldn't open.

I googled RAR and figured out it's a compression format like a .zip and then found a free extractor "PeaZip" to download and install. Using this I was able to properly extract the .ISO file from the .RAR provided via the link in post 1. ImgBurn then was used to make a DVD from the image using the same media and write speed that worked before. I have no disk scanning software but I saw the bunch of files and folders on the resulting disk and figured worst case if I screw it up I can go buy a proper update from the dealer, as my Nav unit is a MkIV and from what I've read can't really be junked by a failure here as the MkIII units can.

I followed the post on page 9 for the actual update procedure and it worked. My only comments would be that I had to press eject 3x after the lights went out and that after the update the disk ejected itelf (but I still removed before hitting accept). I even managed to switch to perspective view without making a new post!

Anyway I wanted to post for the total newbs like me. You can do it! Now all I need to do is save up the 200 bones fore a new Map DVD. Anyone else find that a bit exorbitant?

Hope this helps someone and a big thanks to all those here before me.

Hi friends,

I've been trying to update to V31 and later to V32 my MkIV navigator on a X3 from 2006 (with the screen that turns and hides).
My original maps were the Europe 2006-1 that came with the car in origin. Recently I've downloaded the Europe 2009-1 and burned on a DVD+R disc.

Since I installed V31, the navigator, after a few minutes of use, it usually resets a couple of times and then it hangs-up. In that moment I cannot use the navigator and I cannot turn to the radio screen mode. The screen remains on the GPS screen without any movement no matter I'm driving and moving. I've tried with both discs (original 2006 and copy 2009) and the same.
It also happens with the V32 update. Any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Greetings,
Joan

P.S.: Should I return to the V27.1 or V29 version? Where I can obtain it?

Software updates appear to be cumulative. All prior updates would be included. Have you updated yet?

I have 27.1 if you need it. I'm using it right now on my MKIV. There must be an archive of older software somewhere.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery on the car for a minute or two? Just a thought/not an expert.

main reason I want to use V31/32 is the Dual Layer support. 2009.1 fit on a single layer? hmm..

Ready to update my Nav in the morning. It's 4-1/71 at the moment.

Is the 2009.1 DVD on Single or Dual layer? I've seen some that are Dual Layer, maybe different than the High version? That's *if* I get one.. $200 seems a tad much for the data.
