Hi guys - really eager to try this upgrade... but want to do it right. There are an overwhelming amount of posts on here! I have an MKIV nav running 4-1/71.

FEW QUESTIONS:
  1. Can I upgrade from 4-1/71 directly to 4-1/100, or do I have to upgrade to /80... 91 and then 100?
  2. Once upgraded, will it hurt to run my v27.1 maps until I buy the v32 maps? Is it best to buy them from the dealer?
  3. I like the night-time maps seen in other threads... but don't really understand how to use NavTweak, NavCoder, etc... should this be done after I do the first two steps?
Is there DIY post, or a simplified thread that walks you through a) where to download the most current Software b) how to create the image cd and c) how to perform the update?

Lastly - my car is still under warranty - would any of this be covered by the dealer for free?

Thanks!
Chris

Hallo mate. I shall try to answer your questions.

1. YES, you can go straight from /71 to /100

2.NO, it will not have any impeding effect to run the old maps. The maps DVD is irrelevant to the version of your O/S

3. If you download the night mode from this forum (instead of the v.32 in this thread) the night mode is already there

As for the detailed post, just see the first page of this thread and the ' Night Mode now Available, Here.' thread. They have everything you need.

Hey thanks - really apprecaite the advice. Do you know if the Night Mode version is based off the v.32?

Just wanna thank everyone here for the information on how to update the SW. I read all 37 pages and followed the instructions & tips for the entire process of downloading/unzipping/burning/updating the software. It worked flawlessly and was done in no more than 4-5 minutes.

yes, the version register is only 2 digits so 100 = (1, not seen)00

V32 has been out for a really long time. Can we expect any updates or does everything thing they are done updating the MKIV?

I think that V32 will probably be the last update for our satnavs, unless any particular problem surfaces.

Hi. Thanks guys for all info I found here. I'm owner of X3 just for 1 month and already upgraded navi, using my own letters: pic 1 NAVI and pic 2 map menu. About radar alert and day/night option and upgrading map with extra POI's I even don't need to mention. Prepairing took me 2 weeks, but upgrading maybe 2 minutes.
