CD stopped working

'04 M3 with MKIV. Some time back in February I downloaded V31 and upgraded the firmware from some older version (don't really remember what it was) and everything appeared to go OK. Successful confirmation from the install, navigation worked, had the perspective view, etc.

The first time I went to play a CD after the install (maybe days/weeks) the CD player would swallow the CD but it wouldn't play and then it was a pain to eject the CD. I had to let the car sit off for several minutes until the display would close before it would eject. Is there any way this could be associated with the firmware upgrade to the Navi unit?

I tried reverting back to V27 and then to V32 (both successful installs) but it didn't solve the problem.

Not trying to hijack this firmware post, but not knowing any better the two seemed somewhat linked. Recommendations on other posts to look at or any help here would be much appreciated!

btw, if anyone wants to buy the version 32 CD from BMW, its $10. Since MKIV's have a bad habit of eating burnt CD's, I'll take my chances with a cheap OEM, original disc...

MSRP is $8.80 for the disk and you should be able to get it for under $7

Play a cd, what like a music cd, ?? the nav unit only reads map cd/dvd roms, not anything else.

Music cd's go in the cd changer or the single cd slot behind the monitor (if you have one) only.

Updating the nav unit would have no effect on whether the car will play cds.

If you have 4-1/70 or higher then you can have 3D perspectibe mode, to enable this, Perspective mode needs to be enabled in 2 places,

1: The hidden setup menu.

Go to the menu screen select set (or settings) and hold menu button for 10 seconds, when the hidden menu appears scroll down untill the perspective mode option is selectable.

2: In the arrow map pointing menu.

Select GPS-Navigation, then Map, then push right button, select Map Positioning and there select Perspective

Hallo. Help please. I own an E46 with MK4 professional and updated the OS to V32 so my version is now 4-1/100, therefore the latest. I got a Mini Cooper S for my wife today and I noticed it runs 4-1/70. Is this an MK4 or MK3? I inserted the 2008/2 Maps High DVD and works great. My question is, can I use my V32 disk to bring the Mini up to date to 4-1/100 or will it not work? I quite like the perspective view, got used to it in the BMW so I want it in the mini. Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can use the same disc to update the mini, the mini uses the same mk4 drive as the e46/e39 but it uses a different set of colours.
