not sure if i mislooked this one but; how should I force the navi system fo re-flash software with the same firmware version.

i have it updated to v32 but im fooling around with translations to my mother language and can't get it to reflash it 'couse it's already up-to-date.

Since the nav unit doesn't allow it to "update" with the same software as already installed, you have to fake the Software Version, do the following:

Open the v32/v31 image in ultraiso (or similar), extract the 2 .tbl files from the directoy:
<drive>:\V_2\RR\0101\BMWC01S

Onto you desktop, make them read/write and then open it in an HEX editor (like Freeware, PSPad PSPad - free unicode developer editor, handles near any syntax like HTML, PHP, XHTML, JavaScript, ASP, Perl, C and many other languages with HEX editor, multilanguage interface)

In the first line you find something like: 31 30 30 30 This means: 1000 So: Software-Version 10.00

Just edit the last 30 to 31 and you nav unit will think it's a new Software Version and you can update your v31/v32 without prior downgrade to V29

The next time you update, you can edit it back to 1000 or 1002 etc...

i'm from capitol - ljubljana. right now i'm doing it in slovenian language, though i know someone already did that before me. but i'd like to do it on my own. next step is slovenian, femalce voice (wife's).

Right, I lived there for over a year, it was a lovely city, I was in Maribor and later on Sarajavo for a while too.

When you need to add the new voice file, you must do a few things first, or it won't load with an update.

1; Create a new voices dir (0507)
2; Copy all the files from 0506 to 0507
3; Hex edit the \V_2\Voices\0507\voices.lst file (in new 0507 dir) and replace 0506 with 0507
4; Hex edit \V_2\RR\0101\BMWC01S\lng_rel.tbl and replace 0506 with 0507.

I have just upgraded from v27.1 to v31, the upgrade apeared to load ok, when i installed my map every thing on the display was ok, if i go into say the map scale and alter it or plan a route the system reboots, the screen will go blank, i can hear the dvd spining and after two miniuts the screen comes back on and around i go again, any one else had this problem !!!!

Sounds like a corrupted OS to me, what speed did you burn the OS at mate? try either x1 or the slowest rated for the disc.

Is the OS image OEM, or is it a custom setup?
