V32 has been released and is now available - Page 38

ok,
installed te mk iv a while ago. just updated to v32.
All went well except the display is still in 2d not 3d mode.
dvd is version 2006.9; is that the issue?

Any comments/suggestions?

You have to activate it. Do a search as I have forgotten the trick. It is easy though.

Visible differences between old and new OS versions depend on what you had fitted before.

What OS did the Mk4 previously have fitted?

If you have 4-1/70 or higher then you can have 3D perspective mode, to enable this, Perspective mode needs to be enabled in 2 places,

1: The hidden setup menu.

Go to the menu screen select set (or settings) and hold menu button for 10 seconds, when the hidden menu appears scroll down untill the perspective mode option is selectable.

2: In the arrow map pointing menu.

Select GPS-Navigation, then Map, then push right button, select Map Positioning and there select Perspective

the disc supplied with it (used unit, wrecked vehicle) was 2006.9.

That's the map disc mate...and irrelevant for perspective mode.

In laymans terms the nav computer works as a combination of 3 things,

1: The map disc (2006-9)
2: the system OS (4-1/XX, where XX is the version number).
3: It's GPS location

The nav computer has an operating system on it and this runs the function of the GPS system (in the same way that a PC has an operating system on it ie: windows xp, this is the OS).

To find out what you are running, press menu, then settings, then look in the top right hand corner, you will see the number 4-1/XX, if the XX number is above 70 (or 00) then you can have perspective mode.

Since you have already loaded v32, you are all up to date, just enable perspective mode and you are all set.

To get the best out of the system, read the manual (or download it).

It should (better) be operating this afternoon.

Was hoping that the age of the OEM disc would give clue to the OS.

I do understand the electronic system structure, just playing 'catch up' with accurate info!!

Reading this thread in it's entirity just got confusing. Backed up and started at post one-update and go from there.

First, being a new member, I would like to thank... UCrewX5, ccfj1, nomad, KiwiJochen, and appy for all the sound nav advice for us new X5 owners. I have to apologize to all the other incredible and talented members who deserve thanks too.

As I navigate this Xoutpost.com world, I will undoubtedly find others to thank (michelle are you reading?)!

I'm really looking forward to a long, exciting experience with you guys and my (new for me) '05 X5 3.0i. It's bringing back a lot of great memories of my 325iS. Thanks again all for your help!
