But i dont even see the option to turn the alerts on, the icon on the dvd shouldn't affect the firmware on the unit should it?

The icon on screen and the alert are 2 different things mate.

To turn on the alert you need to run the patch.exe one the navboot file, this enables the alert and sets the sound position in the voice file AND sets up the auto loading of the POI.

The map DVD Icon will effect the loading of the icon (but only the POI loading, not the Alert+icon) and must be correct, did you not download the zip I sent you and try that, this one does work.

Mine is working perfectly and in English.

If you mean (alert on/off) in the nav setup, this is not OEM and must be modded in the OS.

OK didnt realise the option to turn alerts on/off was another mod.

I used the zip you sent, did everything in all the guides that it said to do, burnt slow on good media, updated firmware, put map disc in, and started car. zoomed out but couldnt see any speed cameras, drove past 3 which didn't show on the map but nothing happened. They were definately in the Gatso POI files i used and did show as imported with POIson so really cant understand why they dont show when in the car.

Waiting for some discs in the post, so will try again soon.

Map patch, for the full Alert on/off mod and a fully patched OS, check your PM.
