I have a couple of questions for you. I have installed the Dice kit in my 1997 E39 540i touring with nav and digital DSP and BM23 radiomodule.

First: the coax from the DICE DSP adapter goes straight into the DSP amplifier and not to the radiomodule? That's how I understand it.

Secondly: everything is working, but no sound. I can control the Ipod through the steering wheel controls and Ipod text is running in the cluster display.

In my trouble shooting I have found out that the DSP Dice board is not getting 12V across the + and - terminals. At the end of the power adapter I get 12.xx volts. Is this right?

Lastly: I have 16:9 nav but the BM23 probably cannot display the text messages on the nav display, it's not scrolling right... Do you know if the BM23 supports nav text scrolling.

The BM23 (a radio we do not have in the US) does not support NAV display, it will overwrite other text on the screen. I would recommend moving up to a new BM53/54 tuner or having the text display on the OBC by pressing the CD6/TRACK3 command.

As per the DSP part of your question, you're correct - it will plug directly into the DSP amp in the boot area. Try connecting the DICE directly to the battery for testing purposes, then relocate as soon as you are verified up and running.

HD DICE Install in an X3
 

I am looking to install the HD Dice kit into an X3. I have a couple
questions with regard to the HD antenna placement and routing.

1) Is it possible to place the antenna under the rear spoiler like
I saw someone recomending placing the satelite radio antenna,
or does the body metal interfere with the signal? If possible is
there any recomended cable routing.

2) It the antenna must be placed on the front windshield, what is the
best way to route the cable to the center console.

3) will the unit fit in the area under and in front of the storage bin?

Any other hints on the easiest and cleanest ways to install this.

No, the antenna element must have a clear, unobstructed view of the sky. We recommend the top right hand corner of the windshield.

Your CD Changer wiring sources from the center console, most of the work is done for you. Simply route the cable to the glovebox, the HD DICE module is placed behind the glovebox.

The HD DICE is too large for the storage bin in our installs, I would prefer placing the module behind the glovebox.

Thanks for the advice. A couple more questions. I have the 06 X3 with permium sound and DSP. In the back by my DSP amp there is a couple of coax connectors by the sirius wiring, but I have the 6 pin conector in the console. Based on Dice's site I got a kit with DSP (wish I'd found this thread first). In fact looking at DICE's dsp suppliment it says if you have the 6 pin conector you don't need the DSP kit "(except X3)".

So do I need it? or will the 6 pin connector work.

The 3/6 pin connectors will be fine - the MY06+ X3s do not require a DSP adapter. Here's the kit you need:

No sound on X3
 

Well I installed the DICE HD radio tuner on my 2006 X3. I get display but no sound. I Used the 3 and 6 pin connectors in the console and also tried the ones at the back but no luck. Based on reading the forums I also pulled the radio and switched the plug at the back to the CDSARS plug but no output.

Checked the output of the dice by patching it into a ghetto blaster and it is putting out sound.

My radio does have the coax and there is a coax conection in the console.


So my questions are:

Any idea's?

Do I unplug the coax in the console and install the DSP kit?

It's a 2006 X3 with upgraded audio (DSP) and prewired for sirius

I haven't yet seen a MY06 X3 with digital DSP, there is another 6-pin in the center console, have you tried that? Also - do you have Sirius installed?

On my 06 X3 I didn't see another 6 pin connector. I was using the one marked CDSAR. I'll look for another one tonight. (Found it)

I removed the radio and connected the CDSAR connector to the radio, but maybe if there is another connector I shouldn't have done that. I do have a coax connector on the back of the radio and there are two coax wires in the center console which are joined together. In the back by the DSP amp
there is another 2 coax connectors with the satelite wiring.

(Removed radio again, used multimeter to ring out cable from console to
radio, connections are good) Connected Dice to ghetto blaster, got sound,
but when connected to radio there is no sound output)

No satelite installed, but when I hooked up to the connectors in the back there was no sound as well (but this was before I switched the connectors on the radio to the CDSAR connector.

Any advice you can give me would be great.

Is there anything I need to do to get the radio to recognize the dice inputs.
It's recognizing the text ok.
