The truck does have the factoy CD changer. I used the 6 pin and 3 pin connectors from it. I realized this morning that I should have used the DSP adapter which I installed. My original read of the instructions had me thinking that since I had the six pin plug on the CD changer that I didn't need to use the adapter (wrong... as I did in fact have the coax connection to the amp).

Now I am able to hear the music, but I can't seem to control the song selection. The ipod does charge and I can advance within a song by selecting the manual mode of tuning but I can't select between songs. Also not getting any sort of text titles either.

At this point the device is essentially an auxiliary input and not a controller.

Thanks!

Doesn't matter - we support the devices no matter where purchased from. :)

We'll need to perform a full reinitialization. Perform the following steps:

1. Disconnect iPod from cable
2. Remove battery cables (located under spare tire), negative first
3. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system.
4. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes
5. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last.
6. Reboot iPod by pressing on MENU and CENTER buttons for +5 seconds and then reconnecting to the DICE cable after the reboot process is completed.

Let me know if these steps correct the problem

Hi! I originally bought the dice integration kit which has controls on the steering wheel as well as the ipod. Since i bought the ipod touch my ipod locks up and reads accessory attached and I HAVE to press and hold button for five seconds to unlock( everytime i take the key out and than put it back in). Also I am not able to use the steering wheel remote and the ipod together, I only get one at a time. When I first start up my truck the ipod is locked and will only switch through the steering wheel control. Once unlocked I can only use the ipod controls.

This is normal operation with the new Generation iPods. The touch, new Classic and 3rd Generation nano lock the iPod's Clickwheel when attached to 3rd party devices, this is an iPod-specific issue - not the DICE.

Earlier iPods do not experience this issue. All DICE-specific features are still available. If Clickwheel operation is desired, you can set the DICE module's DIP switches to Simple iPod mode to gain access of the Clickwheel, but will lose text display on the radio when doing so.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Tom -

I performed the reinitialization as you directed above but it didn't seem to do anything for me. Still have the same issue. Can hear the ipod thru the system, and it is charging, but can't control it thru the head unit or steering controls.

Oddly when after I reinitialized and reset the ipod, I started the car and selected the CD changer before plugging the ipod in. The display showed CD 1-68. Display never changed after I plugeed in the ipod. Waited 30 seconds, the ipod did its normal rapidly changing screen thing and then the music started. When I tried to select a different track on the MID the display went to CD 1-69, or CD 1-70, but it had no impact on the ipod.

Nevermind... apparently it was set on the auxilary input mode. Pressed '5' and selected track 1 and everything seems to be cool.

Thanks

I just found this out after installing my kit which is deeply disappointing especially when I wasn't made aware of this fact in any of the DICE sales info, documentation or support. I really need control from the iPOD as well as the steering wheel but want to retain the text display.
Does the new Silverline sort this problem out?

The only way to retain all of the controls would be with an earlier generation iPod, as the new iPods will lock into UART mode.

You can revert to Simple iPod mode by setting both DIP switches in the ON position, but will lose text display in doing so.

So the Silverline doesn't address this issue either?
Do you think it is something DICE can address in the future by means of a firmware update? It is a pain not having this feature.

SILVERLINE now locks all iPod clickwheels in order to enable the Artist browsing and directory listing features. With properly set up playlists, the iPod (and DICE) is very easy to navigate with.
