Tom one question, can I pause or stop the iPod through steering wheel or head unit? or do I have to stop it from the iPod itself? If the answer to the first question is yes then I will put the iPod in the trunk and no need to run the cable to the front!

The iPod will pause when the vehicle is shut down or switches modes (AM/FM).

Strictly a convenience issue. It's a real pain to go in the trunk every time to retrieve the iPod.

I don't need to retrieve it .. currently, I keep it in the car all the time with the FM transmitter.. I dont use it at home or anywhere else..

Anyway I will try to keep it in the trunk and see what will happen... Thank you very much Tom for your quick response

Hey Tom, just want to let you know I install the ipod integration kit in my 2002 X5. did it all myself and follow the instructions going thru the side and under the driver seat (without taking the seat bolts off) and I got it going thru my ashtray and the Nano fits right inside. Only one thing I broke installing but it's a minor thing. It works and I'm just happy. Oh yeah broke my nail hahaha. Not bad for a girl huh! :nanana:

I'm always glad when BMW owners perform their own installed, the X5 can be intimidating at times. Very impressive. ;)
