Dice Operation Questions

Just installed a Dice Silverline & have the following questions. As far as I know, I have carefully followed the programming instrux.

1. Every time I power up the radio or restart the car, the system sets my ipod to shuffle and also to repeat. Is this normal?

2. I am unable to see song names on my display - what I see is tr-01, etc. How do I get the song & playlist names to show?

3. There is a whine in the background that changes pitch with engine speed. I assume there is some sort of filter that would need to be installed - what would I use and where would it connect?

Thanks in advance.

This has happened a few times on X3/Z4 applications - DICE is looking into the cause of the issue atr this time. In the meantime, can I get the numbers on the bottom of the module (below the barcode) and the iPod generation/firmware version you are using?

Are you equipped with Business CD or Navigation? NAV is CD6/TRACk6, Business CD is CD6/TRACK4 setting. Be sure to return to CD 1 afterwards to exit text mode.

Where is the module located in the vehicle? The DICE could be picking up interference from other devices in the vehicle. You can try relocating the wire to see if the noise is diminished or if you cannot find the source of the noise - a ground loop isolator must be used.

Some BMWs are more sensitive to engine noise than others. Here is a link to the version we offer on the website:

12 Amp Power Noise Filter

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Bought Disc silverline, installed without running cables under seats to test. Seemed to work for a while, had some issues which tom sorted but now have all working CD6 Tk6 back to cd1 but nave shows "stopped." I have re initialised a couple of times and rebooted Ipod but still shows "stopped."

Any help would be gratefully received.

David

let me re write that - i didn't proof it 1st. :(

My dice is in the car with cables still over seats etc while i get it functioning. I have it installed ok, the Ipod sees the Dice so all good there. I have done the disc 6 tk 6 stuff, but the nav screen shows a 'stopped' message and i have no audio or controls. I have re initialised (battery terminals disconnected, rebooted ipod) several times but without success. I can't find anything in the troubleshooting section of the manual that mentions this issue.

anyone help?

Cheers, David

It's glitchy sometimes....try disconnecting the ipod and start a song & plug it back in with the song running. That has worked for me. Also, sometimes selecting disc 2 abd changing playlists will get it to start. If someone knows better solutions I would like to know them, too.

Stopped means the iPod has reached the end of a Playlist or browsing method. Simply shoose a new Playlist, Album or Artist and you'll be set.

Tom--I have the Dice Silverline installed w/ Nav, DSP, Sirius, Bluetooth. Everytime I place/recieve a call, I lose the text on the Nav screen and I have to reset it each time (CD6 then to TR 6 to get text). Its not a big pain to reset, but just wondering why that is happening, and what I can/should do about it.

This happened about 15 months ago on the previous DICE kit, can you recreate the issue every time? If so, it should be easy to correct.

yes--it happens probably 95% of the time I place/receive calls. Its also fairly easy to reset using the CD6 function. Anything else I can do. Unfortunately for me, I'm somewhat anal, (and probably slight OCD), so it bugs the be-jesus out of me not to reset it each time so that I have the text!!

Is the DICE module handy whereas you can read me the numbers off the bottom of the unit?
