To start with......the install process needs to be addressed first. http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?...71026082852658 There is a school of thought that says you should never, never, never do a "basic upgrade" installation - that such an installation is, indeed, the root of all evil. Not only do you inherit a lot of old stuff that may be incompatible, but the algorithm whereby the installer "merges" your existing system with the new one is not reliable.

That article makes no sense. Leopard not compatible with Tiger? Of course it is. Of course it is more difficult to merge two operating systems than it is to install a new one. But of course Apple took this into thought. Maybe the people who had issues had tons of 3rd party software, hacked or edited small things in their computer, or had previous issues and thought Leopard would fix them.I'm going to do the "Upgrade", and not an Archive and Install. My copy of Tiger is brand new. QuickAG, when are you going to upgrade?

Upgrade may not be the ticket. But to answer your question, When i finish reading the Mac fixit forums and i'm satisfied that there are no major issues afoot.
Edit: Then it will be to an external hard drive or my G4 first

I don't see where the article quotes your words "Leopard not compatible with Tiger"

"Plus, Leopard has caused a lot of backwards breakage; an application that worked fine on Tiger is not particularly likely to work on Leopard without modification."
"As we advised yesterday, one very good way to do this is to install Leopard to an external drive only, because (1) this installation will be absolutely clean, without inheriting any extensions, preference panes, contextual menus, input managers, weird fonts, or other items that might cause compatibility problems"
