The Trailblazer SS is no surprise; powered by a 391 hp/395 lb-ft of torque version of the LS2 6.0-liter V-8, it can be ordered with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Chevy is estimating the 0-60 time at 5.7 seconds for the Nürburgring-tuned SUV. Outside the truck gets a lowered, monochromatic look inside the colors turn to ebony and flat satin. The seats get heftier side bolsters and SS stitching. At all four corners are 20-inch polished aluminum wheels and four wheel disks (12.8-inch rotors at the front). The SS rides 1 inch lower that its more pedestrian versions and was taken to Germany to tune the suspension. 25 percent stiffer springs and the lower center of gravity help control body roll along with larger front stabilizer bars.

To each there own but comparing these two vehicles and wondering why X drivers wouldn't take the SS (simply because of cost for the most part) is like asking a Porsche TT owner why they didn't take the Z06 Corvette at half the price (Corvette is just as quick and just as good in the corners). These types of questions are completely subjective.

I'm also wondering why the assumption that anyone in a BMW is a snob. I have had 3 Bimmers and every person I have dealt with has never acted snobbish. Maybe some people are buying these vehicles for the wrong reasons. Given you can see a BMW on every single street corner, I'm not really getting the whole "BMW owners are snob" factors. I also do not understand why the word snob is appended to any vehicle that cost more then $40K. IMO.

The interior of the BMW does look nicer.

I still think the difference in cost is huge.

I still think that part of the reason most people buy The BMW or any of the $50,000 plus German Cars is for the snob facter. It is the same reason people buy Rolex.

How many X5 owners also have a Rolex?

I think people buy a $50,000+ car because they can afford it and probably couldn't give a damn what other people would say about their cars.They also buy a BMW, MB, or a Porsche because of the brand. This long thread did nothing but over-analyse the logic of buying these type of cars, not to mention turning off some people by expressing or displaying our own personal values. This would be like questioning women and arguing why they want expensive jewelries!

MyX5 is my first BMW and I bought it because it looked great, most of the people I know would not buy another american car after they bought their bimmer, and I always wanted to own a BMW, a Porsche, or an MB because I simply found them very appealing, and of course, it's time to spend my hard-earned money on my dreams. It's my reward and I also couldn't give a crap on what other people think about my car, whether it has the highest horsepower or fastest 0-60 record.

Do I own a Rolex? Not yet, but someday soon I will and it has nothing to do with being a snob either Somehow I still find my $40 Timex Ironman watch better suited for running and my active lifestyle. So why would I buy a Rolex? Because it's a Rolex!
