They have been delivering 4-5 X5's a day for the last week so I guess I was down the list, it was about 2 weeks from docking to delivery. I am happy with the car, it is very quiet on the road and has a nice steering feel. I have only done 50km so far I'm just going easy on the brakes and engine for the first few hundred Km's. The car comes standard with a Nokia 6233 phone and cradle (on backorder), you can dial any numbers from your phone memory just by saying the name (exactly) as it is listed in your address book. It works straight up fairly accurately but you're stuffed if you have abbreviated names as you will have to say the abbreviation exactly. Will post some pics soon. Cheers!

I ordered a X5 in Dec 06 and paid a deposit, (have been a BMW buyer for 20 yrs) was told delievery mid April 07. In April was told production of my car would now be May 07 with delievery in July 07 due to the Adaptive steer & suspension. Now I have been told production maybe in June or July 07 with delievery in Sept or Oct 07 due to the lack of 20" wheels & Comfort seats. P-ss poor BMW ( not the dealers fault ).

Contacted BMW Australia told them I was not happy, ask what compensation I would get and that my current X5 was loosing value because of the 6 months delay, they said if I did'nt like it cancel the car.

I get better service from Mercedes, I believe BMW Australia have become arrogant with there success and have poor communication skills for the public. They are ringing people who have orderred X5 V8 Ececs telling them they have to take sport seats or they won't get there car and to take 19" wheels, it's a disgrace and no appologies given.

What's the use of ordering a car early, could you see Mercedes or Audi telling you to lump it or leave it. I see the cars arriving in England have comfort seats & 20" wheels, probably the Australian supply re-directed. It's a joke!.

BMW should change there moto, " Goodday, drive the Australian outback, order a X5 today, because you will never never never know because you will never never never go"

Thats very rough and bad form ... I was told to stay clear of Comfort seats and told the standard 18" wheels were in short supply... meaning I was asked to fork out $1400 for 19" wheels... and to settle on sports seats instead (although it did help make my mind up as I am not that impressed with the look of the comfort seats to be honest !!)... My car is on for May production but I am suspicious.. the dealer reassures me there is no problem with what I have ordered...I was going to get the ML 320 but worked out that it was "cheaper" to get the X5 and also liked the X5 better anyway..maybe I may end up having to go back to Mercedes after all !!

WRT ipod integration I checked with my delaer today and they said that they can do it at the dealer $495 for the kit plus labour which I would expect to be at least $200

Hi Mate,

Be interested in who told you to stay clear of comfort seats? I have sport seats in my current X5 and travel to our holiday house every weekend which is a 2 hour trip point to point with 14 klm of actual beach driving and I can tell you that your arse gets soar on those sports seats after 2 hours. They are ok around town but for long distance driving you need comfort? the sports seat in my current X5 are a little to hard I would be testing the new sports seat against the old ones to be 100% sure first.

I've just finished an extended test of a stock X5 4.8 with comfort seats. Whilst discussing the seats vs sports kit, the salesman informed me that all sports orders include comfort seats as a no cost option for the time being until they sort out the problems. Maybe a sweetener for you to wait?

Having driven it, the handling leaves my 4.8is for dead. Turn in is so planted and body roll almost nonexistent. And here's the kicker, it's QUICKER than my 4.8is......

I stayed clear of Comfort seats due to the delays with them i.e. if I wanted a car earlier then Sports seats were the go... also I personally think the Comfort seats don't look that good ... IMHO too soft a look for me..

If sports orders are including comfort seats as a sweetener then the taste may be bitter sweet if the delays on comfort seats are real.
