Yeh, I will have held the current X5 (E53) for over 3 years & 5 months, it would have been good if the release of the new X5 had of been Jan 2007 as it was supposed to be, as I tend to keep cars under 3 years. I replace my wife's car about the same age, so every 18 months it is either my wife's car or my car that is being replaced with a new vehicle.

The new X5 cost is pretty close to $140k on road and the towbar still has to go on it.

The current 2004 X5 Diesel Sports with 19" wheels I have is also well optioned up and has a Front & Rear Spoliers on it from the 4.6is sports. It cost around $135k on the road, plus I had a towbar fitted, so the pricing of the new X5 has not realy increased that much.

Hey Jamesboag,

I wonder if the ship comes to Brisbane first, so does the boat run Brisbane, Melb, Sydney or Melb, Sydney, Brisbane or are they different ships for Brisbane & Sydney, any idea?

Docks at Brisbane first , 3 days earlier that what I quoted for Sydney... then from Sydney on to Melbourne 3 days later. !!!

Do you know if there is anyway of tracking the car online or do we just have to call the dealer ? Btw what did they quote you on the towbar and did you get an alarm in your car ? Also are you sourcing the pedals elsewhere ?

Thanks

Just was wondering how many kms you did the in the old X5 and what sort of tradein price they gave you...?

Yes, with gradual spec increases, the pricing hasn't gone up all that much really. I bought a diesel new in 03 and with only SatNav, Bluetooth, Tint, rear side window blinds and a CD stacker (LOL - not needed now), it was just under $100k OTR.

I remember it cost me $50k OTR for a base 318i Auto (options of electric windows and sunroof only) back in 1991 - a new 320i isn't a lot more now and back then you didn't even get ABS !

Hi Jamesboag,

I thought the pedals were Schnitzer but they actually oem BMW $270.00 my dealer. As far as tracking goes when your saleman checks on the BMW computer system and it shows which boat it is on, it then means it is already on its way because are slow to update there computers.

Once the boat lands the dealer is able to track the car via vin number, pre-delievery in Brisbane is outsourced to a company on the docks, the same company that does Mercedes and all the other major brands. usually takes about 10 days, they very slow here.

I did not get the alarms system as I am getting the BMW Tracking which is now available on the new X5. Because the car now has a built in SOS phone sim , which means they can get into the X5's computer and reset such things as the idrive etc. I believe if you lock the keys in the car you can call them on your mobile and they can remotely unlock the vehicle as well.

I am only getting tracking in case someone gets hold of the key, otherwise they are impossible to steal. The X5 & the Q7 are the two hardest SUV's to steal, they where tested about 2 weeks ago in Melbourne.

Hi Iamthestig,

In Jan 2007 I spent $5k on new rotors, brakes and 4 new 19" tyres and last week I spent another $1,100.00 on a full service. I am looking at getting around $67k-$69k real for current X5, it's done 75,000kms

I couldn't get a status of my VIN... but that's not surprising it wouldn't be on a ship as yet.. I guess you enter the VIN at the Customer Reference option ?

I think the dealer has given me a dud VIN as it has 18 digits.? I've replaced the last six with 999999..

WBAFF420X0LZ999999

Hope your car arrives safe and sound !!!

Hi,
My X5 was slotted for production in the 20 week (14-18 May) so the best would be a ship leaving some time this week or next week for Australia. One would assume that a ship would be leaving the BMW plant every week. Is there any ship leaving between now and the 29/5/07 as there is one on that date.
