You select Cargo Tracking (bottom right) then Auto Cargo and enter your VIN. It is the long number you gave.

Amazing what info you can get publically from that website. Here are the VINs of all the cars on that boat under the same bill of lading:

Hi Jamesboag,

Check my post above, BMW produced my X5 a week earlier and has already sailed on the TARAGO, arrives the 10th June 2007. I am also arranging for the paddle shift steering wheel from the new release 5 series sedan as it has idrive as well to be fitted.

Also getting the software for the diesel engine management system from New Zealand as there X5 E70 diesel produce 520nm whereas the Australian X5 E70 has been detuned to 500nm, because we are clasified as sub-tropical - like if the people in Melbourne & Hobart would believe that?

Do they think the extra nm's will cause overheating or something ?

At least we had one great result in Qld, that is we won the first state of origin.

Apparently we are deemed to be in the sub-tropics so they de-turn the X5 diesels, not sure if they do that in South Africa but New Zealand is fine. New Zealand gets 20nm more, that's about 13bhp, you can re-chip the X5 and get up to 600nm but 520nm is fine, plus they have removed the turbo lag in the new E70.

It will be interesting to see what NM the USA get when BMW finally releases the diesel there, sub-tropics or not they are BH mad. Another reason in Australia was that our diesel fuel was not of a high enough standard which I think was BS. BP diesel is pretty good and so is Shell.

What specifically will happen to the engine in a 'subtropical' climate? Would the dealers be able to tell the car has been chipped if something were to go wrong?

Car arrives tomorrow!!! How do I burn mp3 cd's? Just a data disk with all the songs in folders and subfolders?

Once the boat lands the dealer is able to track the car via vin number, pre-delievery in Brisbane is outsourced to a company on the docks, the same company that does Mercedes and all the other major brands. usually takes about 10 days, they very slow here.

I did not get the alarms system as I am getting the BMW Tracking which is now available on the new X5. Because the car now has a built in SOS phone sim , which means they can get into the X5's computer and reset such things as the idrive etc. I believe if you lock the keys in the car you can call them on your mobile and they can remotely unlock the vehicle as well.

I am only getting tracking in case someone gets hold of the key, otherwise they are impossible to steal. The X5 & the Q7 are the two hardest SUV's to steal, they where tested about 2 weeks ago in Melbourne.
Are these the pedals ?

Yeh, that's them, these are actual new complete peddles, the other type you have to drill holes in the rubber peddles and screw the metal finish on.

Hi,

I tend to burn the MP3 onto a music cd rather than the data cd, have found some players don't like the data cd's, you could test one out anyway. My Yamaha MusicCast will only burn to blank music cd, so that is what I tend to use.

If the ECU is ugraded by simply putting the different firmeware in via say a BMW dealer you cannot tell. If you have to phyisically remove the chip and send it away there maybe tell tail marks showing it had been played with.

Remember the ship that brings the cars to Australia stop off at New Zealand first, having the new Zealand firmware if found could been seen as a mistake, its geniune BMW firmware.

If you push the firmware to get 600nm and you blow the engine they would most likey take a good look at the firmware, but I have not heard of anyone blowing a diesel yet. The standard increase for the diesel from PowerChip Australia is 566nm with no problems. So putting the New Zealand firware in at 520mn is fine as it is the internationally advertised nm power of the X5, its just de-tuned a little for Australia.
