Yes good point re end of year haggle opportunity ... and given BMW seem to be bringing their MY releases further and further forward I suspect that they'll want to move 2011 models in prep for 2012 ordering by around April next year .. perhaps then I can take a look at 50i M-sport

Also - new (bigger ande better redesigned) X3 will be out by end of year/early next year I suspect - and I have no doubt that some prospective X5 buyers will be willing to step down a little to the new X3 to save $$ esp if they want to bulk-down in size a little ... esp if they put 35i engine in and good diesels ...so that pressure may help X5 buyers also at end of year .. and lets remember that whole new X5 model will be out in 2012/2013 ...all these factors may drive some good haggle moments ... cash rate projection of 6 % will also put pressure on dealers when discretionary spending starts to seriously slow mid 2011 ...

Yeh, it has slowed for the car dealers in the last month or so. Last year there was a rush because of the 50% investment allowance, thats all finished now. Europe is in crissis and retail saales are slowing in Australia.

You watch the June sales bonus this year, and agin in Dec 2010 to move the old stock. Then in 2011 they will do deals to sell cars, they have a problem in that secondhand cars are not selling. If they cannot offer good prices for your trade, they need bonus to throw in on the new car to offset that secondhand low trade price because the secondhand yard is full of unsold cars!

There secondhand used car sales is there current problem, I think they are hoping that because of the cost of money increasing people will move to the used cars as they are cheaper, then new cars sales fall off. Its a catch 22, at the moment new & used are both slow and there's no June rush this years from the companies changing there fleets over because they did it last year because of the 50% allowance.

Interesting times ahead if you want to buy a car, the smart people will be out there crunching the dealers over the next 6 months!

There even offerring 10% off services & $250 gift vouches if your the owner of a new car.

Interesting to note that the 30d Standard Features include "Individual roof rails aluminium satinated". I think this is the low profile roof rails - unique feature of the pre-LCI X5 MSport models only.

Might be intentional so as the LCI X5 in the Australian market would be easier to differentiate? Or just an error in the spec sheet....

The car manufacturers are feeling pinch at the moment, things are slowing down after the 50% investment allowance has now gone. Would not be supprised if the Gov't makes some more concessions otherwise the car industry may faulter.

I think by the end of the year there will be some good bonuses floating about?
I'm curious, why would you not consider the new Cayenne? It sounds like you have already made up your mind?
I am guessing u live in Bris/GC? Will keep an eye out for your California. I have yet to see one in Bris yet.

New Cayenne's power and fuel numbers look good. No more GTS and Turbo S for the time being but both S and turbo's ADR fuel is claimed to be down 23%. Diesel is also down 20% and still better than hybrid. Hope it drives better than the old one.
