it's not compatible with the OBC... that alone is a dealbreaker for me
|
It is disappointing, but one question is does it still work on the cluster? Because if it does that helps the curb the disappointment. None of the aftermarket stereo systems can work with the OBC can they? I am not sure, but would like to know.
|
This one supposedly does retain all OEM functions including OBC: | BMW Headunit Upgrade | Navigation retrofit | e46 | e53 x5 | E39 | E38
it looks exactly the same as the Hualingan, but they say it's not. |
That one only seems to be available in the UK...
|
I assume that you can order via other methods, it just says online ordering is available to UK customers. But I don't think it'll be worth it to get the OBC functions. It's already more expensive than purchasing on in the US; $780 US before shipping.

xnsf- that looks great. Is that the Dynavin E39 unit? Was it plug and play? MORE INFO PLEASE!
|
It looks like the hualingan unit, although the haulingan unit never claimed to work with the OBC.
It's not the Dynavin. The Dynavin units were supposed to start shipping this week. I've been scanning the 5-series boards to see the first install pictures and impressions. Should start to get exciting in the next 6 month. Dynavin vs. Haulingan for Christmas... |
<impatiently waiting>
I want one that works with the OBC and also has the ability to go aftermarket for the stereo part (line outs would be nice). However, right now I'll settle for an integrated nav unit. |

When will these units go for sale? I'm def getting one
