After replacing all the pumps in my washer reservoir, a leak was found in the left headlight washer heads. Amazingly, this specific leak was not there before changing the pumps, a pump leak initiated the project.
One headlight washer head leak was fixed with a fresh o-ring and some teflon tape. The inboard one was not resolved so it was off to buy a replacement PN: 61678252743 https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/IlgAA...7l/s-l1600.jpg Have to remove the headlight housing to expose the back of the inboard unit. The outboard unit can be serviced by removing the fog light housing. Mike |

Hi crystalworks,
I bought this factory part. Comparable price to all others and I have used this seller before and they ship quickly :dunno: https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-BMW-Gen...3/362548211955 Sure glad I didn't have to buy all four of them! The leak was odd, It was not at the hose/o-ring interface and it was not a cracked body since I blew in the headlight facing end with my finger over the nipple and could not detect any leaking air. :dunno: Mike |

All of mine have multiple cracks in the head/sprayer part. I have not tried to system but I imagine they all leak like sieves when engaged. FCP Euro has them for $28.80. I'll order them all there so at least I won't have to buy them again. Lifetime warranty FTW. |

If I hadn't been so confident in my fixes I would have left the headlight housing out to discover the continued inboard leak and swapped the outboard one into the more difficult position and put the leaker in the fog lamp housing position :( PS: The left and right hand units are different PNs. True, I think I saw a Google search result and thought I'd start there since I already had the part in my garage, and didnt think much more from there. |

I live by that with my M3, but I backed off a bit since the rod bearing started wearing out. Will be back to that life once they're replaced. Kinda hard to do that with the X5 tho. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
How exactly does a rod bearing "start to" wear out? In my experience once they make noise they're pretty much goners. Just curious. A friend recently had rod bearings go on his E46 M3 at only like 105k miles sadly.

Can be catastrophic or progressive failure. There is no timeline for a progressive failure since there are so many variables. Best to take care of it as soon as you have symptoms as at some point on the timeline other engine components will be damaged or destroyed.
