Hmmm only looks like you are getting 8MPG according to the gauge. It might be broken. lol

:yikes: Yikes; I hope that wasn't you taking the photo while at that speed.

His knee was steering. I don't see the problem! lol

That's around 117 MPH at best, if your tires are worn at all it's even slower. The BMW speedos are optimistic, when I hit 147 MPH on GPS the speedo was showing 155, with new tires.

I thought those GPS units weren't accurate? I know our speedos aren't calibrated to high specs, but if that gap is a dynamic number, thats 8mph. Seems like a lot to be off. If the number is extrapolated the faster one goes, then I guess its not so bad???

Yeah I know, they're never accurate at high speed, just havin' fun with the "apply a day.." saying.

Dang, 125 indicated in a 3.0 is moving pretty good!

I want to try to do 150 in mine some day.

Garmin states MPG accuracy to 0.1 MPH regardless of speed. Independant tests run on these have shown no more then 0.5 MPH. GPS speed is closer to true speed then anything else, radar guns included.

FWIW, his pic shows 123 MPH, so it's 6, not 8MPH.

I haven't had the X5 near tripple digits yet, but I've had my M30-powered e32 735i in the neighborhood of 125-130 a number of times. Solid and stable; dang I love that car.

I wonder what the top speed in the X5 is with a manual box and 4.10 gearing... Anybody know?

Only one way to find out Dave and you have the wide open roads of God himself in South Dakota, why don't you be the experimenter ? :p:
