Amen to that! Old 80s super computers had fewer miles of wiring in them than these suckers do! Heck "HAL" probably had fewer miles of wiring than these things do :rofl:


Would be a HUGE pain in the back side, a real labor of love and a whole helping of crazy..., but if you really, really, really love it and it really runs good, you could probably source yourself a pretty solid used harness :D

The problem is: it's like running to a different tree to stay dry in the rain. They all are the same age so they all are getting brittle.

I'd put an elbow on the post cat sensors just to have a clear dashboard.

thanks for sharing this, incredible mileage. I enquired about trans service on different BMW's I've owned with GM trans as well over the years, at different BMW dealerships in Connecticut. All of the service advisers (along with the shop foreman at one dealership) advised against changing the fluid if there are no issues - changing it can cause issues/failure in their collective experience.

Per the best Dallas BMW transmission expert that also does high performance rebuilds, I have changed transmission fluid and filter every 40-50,000 miles and used OE fluid as recommended. I have original transmission with 118,000 miles on it.

From experience I can confirm you can always change the filter and fluid on the L480-E at 180,000 miles. I think one of our members is still on original fluid and filter pushing 381,000 miles with no issues.
