Sometimes I am really amazed with those dealer's professionality. :D

I ran this through the new google translator for sales-speak...

"It's the end of the month and I have no hope of making a sale today if we talk about future product, six-months should be enough to dissuade this potential customer from waiting..."

BableSalesman.com had an alternate translation...

"My job is to sell cars, not keep up on the information BMWUSA sent us last week on 2012 X5 changes, pricing, and availability, so I'll make something up."

Has anyone tried ordering a 2012 yet?

This is my first BMW, but do they ALWAYS do this? Major updates in the middle of model years, etc.

This sort of thing is becoming more and more common among manufacturers (not just the auto industry). Expect to see more of it, as sales volume is key to raising stock prices.

I was mildly annoyed as well; I've had my X5d, a 2011 ordered in fall 2010, for less than 3 months and 2,500 miles, and it will soon be a model year old. And unless the $3,500 EcoCredit goes away, I could have had a lot more equipment for the money.

But then I remembered that it is not my vehicle. It is a lease, so it is BMW's. If they want to destroy resale values of their own cars, it makes no difference to me.

I too am frustrated about having to wait until fall or settling for a 2011. Resale, on the other hand, may not be an issue- I was originally looking for 2010's used and have found that they are BARELY less than ordering new....and they seem to be selling quickly.

The 2011 that I would order stickers just under $64K and I can order for about $56-57K net of the eco credit. I can't find a used one (other than going to the pre-new iDrive 2009s) for under $50K and most are in the $52-56K range...some even more!

We're talking about the diesel. It's all over several forums and everyones dealer is telling them that both gas engines will be '12 next month but the diesel will not be a '12 until Aug-Sept.

BTW, heard from a birdie that X6 facelift coming later this year will have a diesel version, along with a diesel 6-series. Tri-turbo 45d is the engine they are supposed to get. So a few months wait may be good. ;)

That would be amazing at 354 HP and 500+ torque. I wonder if MPG would go down or if price would jump/eco credit go away for the X5.
