Diesel will stay 2011 until Oct. Only gas engine enter 2012 model year on April.

So when the Factory has to switch from Diesel to gas engines they have to re-program the robots to make a 2011 when they just finished 2012 models, just dont make sense to me..

From what i read The only body change is the headlight cluster, nothing else. Robots dont need to change

So why exactly is the diesel staying a 2011?

What you actually mean is that they will "suddenly" be able to add a feature to the USA spec car that the European or Canadian car was able to get for the past few years. Given they are on the same assembly line, one literally right behind the other it is truly amazing how stupid BMW can be.

Very true. Im assuming it has to do with money and/or regulation, not out of spite. My guess is they needed time to realize the cost savings before they could pass it on the US.

I live here in Europe (US Military) and if you guys only knew. The Europeans can change just about everything on a vehicle and get many more options, from the trim to seat colors.

Now, they do have to pay for every little thing, but, it seems to me, we tend to get things much later than they do (i.e. 8-speed transmission, 40d, lights, etc). Even the new HUD that is in the 6-series is in the new X5 for Europe to include soft close doors.

It upsets me like someone said above, they run on the same assembly line, are assembled by Americans in America and we get the tech later than they do in Europe.

Just my two cents, STILL LOVE THE HELL OUT OF THEIR VEHICLE THOUGH

I think it will upsets you more if here in US you will have to pay same price as they pay in Europe or any other country on the same car. A lot of people here b$$ch about that where we only are paying 1/3 of the price what other countries are paying.

I just bought the 2012 x6 with a lot of options. In my country( in Europe) with money that I paid for the X6 I'll be able only to buy a new Nissan altima. So why are complaining???

Where am I complaining.

First, 60% of vehicles price here in Europe is taxes, so the vehicle itself doesn't cost that much, it is YOUR system that is cheating you.

Secondly, if a vehicle runs down the same assembly line, which happens to be in the US, why should we receive the updates a year later considering the largest market for the vehicle is the US.

Third, the value of anything is often determined by what the market will bear. Take for instance Levi's 501s, in the US they go for around $25 a pair, in Europe, they are 75-80 Euro's, which at todays exchange rate is $100 a pair. People still buy them, but, you couldn't pay an american to pay that much for them.

X5s, IMHO is the best SAV/SUV on the road, but, it is also the priciest when compaired to others. So if you are looking from a Market perspective, we X5 owners are paying alot more for this vehicle than say a Lexus, Infiniti, etc in the US also. So no, I don't think we should get things "after the fact".

Again, wasn't complaining, if you look at my posting, was just giving a general observation/my opinion. I still love BMWs and have one in the driveway and a 35i SA on order.
